Vegasgroom

So how's the planning? Tell us about your bar and what kind of food you're having. It's almost lunchtime.

lol, actually have no idea on the food yet, but on our rsvp cards we gave guests a choice of beef, fish or chicken because we expect to offer all three.  We are waiting for Mix's new spring menu to come out since I guess they overhaul the entire menu every few months and may not have some of the options currently on the menu when wedding time gets here.

So, I know we'll be having filet and chicken, but not how either will be prepared, and no idea what type of fish at this point, or sides, salads, desert, etc.

I have to be in California in March so I may stop by Vegas on the way back to sort that out in person and hopefully sample some of whatever is on the menu at the time.

For bar, the restaurant has their service bar plus the Mix Lounge bar to pull from so we're just doing open bar anything you want within reason all night and they should be able to handle it.  I just have to make sure they know if a guest asks for a 400 year old single malt scotch, that's not part of open bar lol.

Are you having a wedding cake or passing on that?
We need to get a group together to crash your wedding, sounds like the shindig of the year.  lol

Are you doing a lot of decor or just going with what MIX already offers? Drink louge?

We're doing a cake; we'll be ordering it through the restaurant but Mandalay's in-house deserts chef will be the one it gets outsourced to, which is nice because that lets the cost of the cake go against our minimum spend to rent mix.  I have no idea what we're going to do yet but a friend got married on Thanksgiving and they had a really great yellow cake with a layer of real strawberries and cream in the middle so it had the taste of strawberry shortcake without the hassle.  I could go for something like that, I just know whatever it is it better not have fondant on it, I hate that stuff.  We'll probably try to do some type of vegas theme with it like I've seen some of the girls on here do like dice, etc.  We're not having a grooms cake, I don't want to waste money on that.

The DJ is bringing up-lights and we're doing very small/short red and white rose centerpieces on the tables so guests don't have to stand up to see across the table; that's it for the decor though so we're spending very little on that, we love the way Mix looks as-is.

No drink louge lol, we're already way over what I wanted to spend so that got the axe.

Yeah we're just waiting to see how many rsvp's we get at this point.  Once we have the numbers we'll get the floor plan from Mix, do the table assignments and then we can get the menu and centerpieces squared away.  I'm just ready to party and go on the honeymoon at this point, planning sucks lol.
