Re: Calling ALL Platinum hotel brides!!

  • I have been on the fence about booking the Platinum. I was about 99% there but have hesitated--nothing to do with the Platinum itself. We were looking at a rooftop ceremony and a Misora room reception for about 40 guests. We were going to stay right there at the Platinum because it looks good for families and kids. I have 3 (12, 4 and 2). Plus, I love the full kitchens. Can really help cut costs of eating out and it's good when you have kids, (you can throw a frozen pizza in the oven, make their apple juices for the sippie cups, etc). We were going to go with the buffet style dinner, not upgrading chairs, although the upgraded chairs look WAY better. We considered getting a few up lights from the allnightlong company who is also the DJ for the all-inclusive package. They are awesome to work with. We hadn't gotten to the rehearsal business yet. Still going crazy locking down a venue.
I will say, that for the price, you sure get a lot for your money at the Platinum. For $7,300 we had the ceremony, the Misora room, a DJ for 5 hours, a photog for 4 hours, flowers for the wedding party plus 8 centerpieces and other arrangements, the food that included 2 apps, 2 cold choices, 2 starches, 2 entrees and 2 desserts, plus a full open bar for 4 hrs. You really can't beat that. And it's picturesque and all in one location. LOTS OF ADVANTAGES to this place.

I just don't have $7,300 to blow on one big party, don't like 40 people well enough to spend so much on a party for them and freaked out about a traditional dancing reception in my honor. I'm weird like that. Don't like a lot of attention.

I totally understand your excitement, though! Congratulations!!!
  • I'm not a Platinum bride, but I just wanted to say congrats on booking!  I know there have been so many times I've driven my FI nuts with my "wedding brain!"

    1. Misora.. Expecting 50-60
    2. Staying at the Platinum in a Princess Suite!
    3. Stations menu and hors d'oeuvres
    4. Not upgrading chairs, and we have ordered some up lighting through all night long.
    5. Went with all inclusive (partly modified) so all of the flowers are through Roxi. Bouquets and boutonnières are upgraded to calla lilies, and we also ordered some vases with floating flowers for the aisle, an aisle runner and a wooden arch for the ceremony. The wooden arch from Roxi floral is gorgeous!!
  • Forgot 6! Still planning the rehearsal. We are doing a double decker bus tour on the Friday before our Sunday wedding, and our rehersal is the Saturday at noon since they have a wedding that night so we are looking into just taking everyone to a buffet after the rehearsal for lunchl.. And we are only including those in the wedding so it's a fairly small group.
  • 1. Misura - 60-80
    2. Staying at The Flamingo, booked a Go Mini suite
    3. Stations (Cheese, Grilled Veggies, Anitpasti, Sliders), Apps (Bacon wrapped scallops, tomato crostinis, Ahi Poke & Grilled Cheese) Doing the desserts as well and having cupcakes from Retro Bakery (Pumpkin, Lemonade, Maple Bacon and Peanutbutter chocolate)
    4. Upgrading the chairs to chivari, undecided on the uplighting
    5. We are doing roses with dahlias for our flowers, and we're getting the wooden arch ($300) with the draping ($30) and 2 small corner floral arrangements ($65 each) Not sure what i'm going to do inside for extra decoractions yet - would like to keep it it a minimum, doing ivory linens.
    6. We're having the 4 course family meal at Firefly with pitchers of mojitos!

  • If you don't mind sharing, ladies, what is your total cost you are looking at for your ceremony and reception?
  • What is the upgrade cost on the chairs?? For 80 people at kilawat in a Sunday I'm looking at 11k total
  • For 60 people on a Saturday it's $11,200 total. We also did the 2nd level of bar which added $8 per person over the standard, and then the chairs and upgraded linens (not sure really what that encompasses because i was focused on the chairs :)) were about $12/ person. I love those chairs. Salar thinks i'm nuts, but i just love them - i told him i'd give up something else somewhere else lol.

  • 1. Misora, 45 people
    2. We stayed at the Platinum before the wedding, and then moved to the Venetian after the wedding. If I had to do it again, I would have stayed at the Platinum the whole time. The rooms were so big, and the room service was (relatively speaking) inexpensive.
    3. Stations and apps.
    4. We didn't plan to upgrade the chairs, but ended up getting a free upgrade from the Platinum (I suspect the other wedding downstairs ran out of chairs).
    5. We DIYed our decorations (which was kind of a pain in the butt to do in the hotel room...it would have been less stressful if I just hired a florist).
    6. We had a welcome reception in suite at THEHotel catered by Magiannos.

Our grand total due to the Platinum (F&B, tax, service fee) was $6K. Hope that helps! I really enjoyed my experience with the Platinum.

  • Ann, your decor rocked. I love that you DIY'ed it (LOL). It looked professional to me!!!
