Adios Las Vegas Hilton.....

I got this in my inbox today...
http://www.hotelchatter.com/story/2011/6/29/194758/547/hotels/No_More_Viva_Las_Vegas_Hilton

It appears Hilton has dropped the hotel due to poor performance
and staff. I would be leary of booking any type of rooms for
guests or suites for an in-suite reception
as it appears the future is up in the air
and a management/name change is not smooth sailing.....
Seems too risky. Just an FYI! Cool

Yeah, saw this on the news last night. They'll have a new name for by the end of the year or early next!

"Elvis played there", I never realized the Hilton had been around that long.

That sucks!!! It has a really cool club in it that we went to.

The Flamingo used to be associated with Hilton too.  They'll probably just go find another property to put their name on.  They have 3 vacation club locations on/close to the strip alone so the Hilton won't leave.  Maybe this is a good opportunity for the existing hotel to make itself over.

ETA: KLMinor I think this is a good head's up to planning brides.  I would not want to be dealing with a hotel that is looking for a new buyer and trying to plan a wedding.  I think a lot of brides had issues last year when that was happening at another hotel.  Can't remember the name...i just remember there was only a single person working the chapel and she was overwhelmed and really bad with communicating....

I've been laughing at that all day.  I used to work there and they laid me off last summer, so no sympathy for them!  FI and I met in the employee dining room, which is the only good thing I want to say about it.  Not that the EDR was good at all.

Does anyone know if this will affect the chapel in the hilton? I need to know before I go and scope out Chapels next weekend. Don't want to book and then have them not honor my booking.

I doubt it will affect a booking, but you may find a lot of employee turn over or customer service issues as they go through the process.

It's hard to get information on their suites when you're actually taking a tour of them. They couldn't have been less accommodating, and this was almost seven years ago!
