Invitation Timeline

Sorry ahead of time is this is already a thread on this board... I tried searching but only came up with other cities... I feel like it has been mentioned though.
Anyway, just looking for takes on when to send out invites/ expect RSVP's returned. I'm thinking 6 weeks to RSVP, 6 weeks time inbetween RSVP due date and wedding.
So:
Send out: April 1st
RSVP'd Due: May 15th
Wedding: July 2nd
Too much time? Too little? We sent our STD's in December.
Thanks girls!! :)

Its a good time line, exactly the one I am using but my wedding is June 11th.  I didn't want to give folks more than 4-5 weeks otherwise they would forget and more people I have to call in the end.  Plus I have to give a final count the week before.

We sent out our STD's in October. Which in hindsight was WAY too early, could have probably cut the guest list further.

I've seen most send their invites out 8 weeks before and then RSVP's come back around 3-4 weeks before the wedding date.

We are getting married on April 1.  We sent our invites in the begining of January and have a RSVP date of March 1.  We are also sending our our B list invites as we are getting our RSVPs back.

We are sending all our invited this week for our May 28th wedding.  Especially since many of our guests are coming from Michigan, Kansas and Florida, we wanted to send them out early so they could know they are 'officially' invited and the wedding details are planned.  We sent out STD's in November too, but again we wanted to give people plenty of time to plan and know that yes we are really having a wedding in Vegas on May 28th.  our RSVP deadline is April 1.  We've actually already gotten 50 RSVP's but after the invites go out their may be some stragglers.

We are going to send our invites out pretty early. We sent STDs out last month, and some people are already making travel plans, but like aegrish, we want people to feel confident with all of our details pretty early.

I think we'll be sending invites in May for our October wedding. Our RSVP date will probably be sometime in August.

We are getting married June 4...my invites are pretty much ready to go at any point...our rsvp is April 7. We sent STDs out but only to immediate family since I was trying to do a little guest list trimming.

Soo.. the question I have is, when do you let your guests know where your wedding registries are at? Only because I didn't want to put it on our invitation and I was thinking not many people would ask. But the family members who aren't able to come are asking and some of our friends.

We included a card with a link to our wedding website. We asked everyone to check our website for travel details, and we have links to our registries on our website. That is the only way we are letting people know we are registered.  I wouldn't put it on your invitation. Most people frown on that. :)

As far as invite timeline, for our June 4th wedding:
    STD- Sent in November
    Invites- Sending next week
RSVP- due back by March 15th

Sounds like word of mouth should get your registries around just fine.  We also sent our website with our STD's and our registries are listed on our website.  We aren't putting in a website card with our invitations (jacked up the postage if we did because the enevelope would be over 1 ounce) but I think family and friends will spread the word if possible.  Also, guests that get invited to the bridal shower will know anywyas.

Our STD's went out in September (only because they were included with our engagement party invites), invites will be going out this week, RSVPs due the 15th of March and wedding is May 20th.

We will be putting a card in the invites with our website so guest have info on hotel blocks and our "agenda" for the wedding weekend plus our registry information.  The only "snag" we have is that we are trying to figure out how to get guests our honeymoon registery info... the slip/card they need to mail in with any gift they want to give toward our honeymoon costs.

Couldn't you just use cash gifts that you may get?  If you think people would really be interested in mailing in checks towards a honeymoon gift (which I would just give the couple cash instead) maybe you can just put a note about it one your website? they could ask for one if they needed one.  I have not seen or gotten one of these before though, so I am not 100% sure of what you're talking about, but I am assuming its a 'honeyfund' or something similar?

If you plan to do this it should be via word of mouth or given on your wedding website.

I agree about the word of mouth registry info. I will not be formally putting it on my invites. I have told my mom, a couple aunts, the in-laws. I figure word will get around. I also found that this is one of the questions asked quite a bit so I don't think anyone will have trouble getting the info.

I think six weeks out may be pushing it for your RSVP date.  Generally you don't need to give your vendors a final head count until abotu 2 weeks out.You might think about changing the RSVP date to 3-4 weeks from your wedding date.  You'd hate for guest to have to RSVP no just because they don't have their works schedule yet, childcare set up, etc....
