RING APPRAISALS QUESTION??

we bought all our rings at Jared's and evidently they don't give you an appraisal certificate with your purchase.
I was able to insure them with our receipt, which is better than nothing but I really need to get appraisals done. We already know that b/c of the custom changes that were made to my  engagement ring will appraise for much more than what it was purchased for.
However, Jareds wants to charge me $320 ($95 for the first ring and $75 each ring after that) for all four rings. I feel that is a little high but could be wrong. I have never had anything appraised before.

How much should an appraisal costs?
Can anyone recommend another place in Charlotte?

Hey!  I just asked Robby (he used to be in jewerly).  Reeds used to do it for $25.00 a piece.  He says it may go up alittle, but not much.  He also says that Sumter Jewelers does appraisals, not sure the cost.  Jared's is nuts!!! Don't pay that!!

BUT, Robby's good friend works at the Jared's at Concord Mills, he may be able to help if you have to go there. :-)

Those are the two  I would start calling.  I have to get mine done as well.

Holy bleep, are you kidding me?? That is outrageous. I got my e-ring appraised at Diamonds Direct in South Park, and they were outstanding. They were so good I decided to have them make me a wedding band too. Customer service is great, and I think the appraisal was only $50 or something, they actually didnt charge me for it because I had my ring resized at the same time and they only charged me for the resize. But I am pretty sure the appraisal was like $50. HIGHLY recommend them.

Holy cow.  All our rings are from Diamonds Direct and we weren't charged for appraisals.

Just to clarify, I did NOT get my e-ring at Diamonds Direct, that's why they charge (or were going to charge) for an appraisal. When i got my wedding band from them, they did NOT charge for the appraisal, it came with it.
