PSA: email addresses BEWARE

FYI- just saw on the news that email addresses got leaked so please be careful on opening emails from best buy new York and co, there's more but can't recall. Also my co worker got an email from FedEx and she didn't order anything. It also had grammatical errors and then mentioned UPS. Please be aware of what you open and don't give Amy information what so ever via email. I'm sure everyone knows this but I still want to pass this information on.

I got an email the other day from Benefit Cosmetics and one from Target. They warned about this. Apparently whatever company [Epsilon] holds the email databases for many, many companies got hacked.

Here's the email from Target (and then it goes on about internet safety)

Target’s email service provider, Epsilon, recently informed us that their data system was exposed to unauthorized entry. As a result, your email address may have been accessed by an unauthorized party. Epsilon took immediate action to close the vulnerability and notified law enforcement.

While no personally identifiable information, such as names and credit card information, was involved, we felt it was important to let you know that your email may have been compromised. Target would never ask for personal or financial information through email

Yeah apparently a bunch of companies use Epsilon. I've gotten emails from Walgreens, Target, and Citibank all warning my name and email may have been compromised.

The knot is weird sometimes and quick reply doesn't work. Just quote and delete the quoted part if you don't want to use it.

I got one last week from US postal service saying 'my package had been shipped', I do have some items coming from US so opened it, it inundated my computer with viruses and leaked password info to internet, luckily one of our friends works very high up in IT for Deutsche Bank so he sorted it out for us, even took him 2 whole days to fix it though :-(
