It's the only hotel I've ever checked in and out of within 30 mins. Such a dump

**BLECH** Not sure how valid this will be, as my comment comes from the previous property, and from approx 2006. This hotel was previously the St. Tropez, and we stayed there briefly for our LV layovers, until we all complained, and they got us out of there! (I am a flight attendant) DUMP wasn't even a good enough word! I have no idea if the same people still own it, revamped it, and changed the name to get from under the bad reputation, or if it was simply sold and then revamped. But from the previous comment...it doesn't sound like it's any better than when I was there several years ago. If you're going sight-unseen, I would recommend you look elsewhere. JMHO. ETA** It could now be re-vamped...But The Alexis Park next door was the same way! We nick named it "The Soak-N-Poak!" Because from what we were told, back in the day, they used to shoot porn there--and it looked it! Very 70's--floral print furniture, metallic wallpaper, and a hot tub half way up the L shaped stairs! Ewww! Somebody queue the porn music....Bow-Chikka-Bow-Bowwww! Lol.

LOL Oh my... well nowadays pictures can be deceiving and as lovely as it looks, I trust you ladies (and gents).

Are there other hotels that are behind a mask like this one?

It reminds me of a spa here in the GTA called the Blue Lagoon. The name seemed lovely...

... it is a body rub parlour - oi.

Yes, totally gross. And I'm not high maintenance, I love the more vintage hotels

Not necessarily.

What are you looking for? It seems like you just keep asking people if places are good/bad. We could be more helpful and maybe make suggestions if you told us what you are after. So far it looks like you want a smaller venue, off the beaten path maybe?
Artisan Hotel, I think I remember someone not too long ago held their wedding here. http://artisanhotel.com/
Platinum Hotel, where I held my wedding, has a 17th floor rooftop venue with a great view www.theplatinumhotel.com/

Well good/bad reputations, overall opinions, etc - I guess I am trying to create a pros/cons list, seemed to make sense to ask this way.

I am looking for a intimate venue, that is fun, has good service, is clean (whether for sleeping or as a venue) - Artisan Hotel now own Rumor from what I see from the website and the other sister property is Mt Charleston.

One bad renovation doesn't mean ALL renovations won't have great improvements/better management. Also, please keep in mind that the said hotel...wasn't nice from the get go! LV has so much to offer! You WILL find a venue that fits you, your vision, and your budget. Don't be discouraged!

I looked into Rumor for a venue.. never actually saw it, but was pretty quick to count it out when I saw the prices. $88/pp for 4 hours open bar (regular liquor), $115/pp for top shelf open bar for 4 hours. After I saw that I never bothered looking into them any deeper.. I think you can get a lot more bang for your buck elsewhere.
I ended up choosing Platinum.

I haven't dealt with it personally, but I remember thinking it was kind of sleezy looking during the last Real World Las Vegas. One of the guys that got kicked out of The Hard Rock stayed at The Rumor and it just struck me as sketchy when I saw it on the show. I can't put my finger on it, just a feeling I got from the visuals ....

LV Hilton isn't being taken over. Same owners, but losing rights to the Hilton name because they aren't keeping up with Hilton standards. (They aren't owned by Hilton, just leasing the name.) Their lender is also attempting to foreclose.
