Nevada-Las Vegas

Are you staying in LV for your honeymoon?

Hi everyone.
Just looking for some suggestions on where to honeymoon that is close by, but not right in Vegas.  We have been there so many times and would like to do something different (other then the usual day trips, such as the Grand Canyon, etc.).

Thanks!

We did stay in Vegas for the honeymoon, though we did stop over in Phoenix to visit my grandparents.  Los Angeles is about a 4-5 hour drive.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

We're staying in Vegas until the Tuesday after our Saturday wedding so we can have a few days of Vegas time without wedding pressure before leaving for the rest of honeymoon.

How about Laughlin? It can be done as a daytrip, but you can also stay there. Or California isn't too far of a drive. There's Big Bear(if you're into outdoors), Orange County, LA, Palm Springs.

We're staying for a day after the wedding to hang out with family and friends, then we'll leave to Italy.

Ditto PP's, I'd totally road-trip it to California if you have the time.

Disneyland is an easy four hour drive from LV.  H and I did a weekend there as a minimoon a few weeks after our wedding.  We had a great time.

If you had the time, I would take a drive to California! Heck Maybe I can talk my man into doing that. We are there for a week. But most of our family is to, so it won't feel like much of a honeymoon. We are definitly going to do the ziplining!! I can't wait.

Thanks everyone!  We have been to Cali many times, but haven't been everywhere so we may do that... FI's fave band has a winery in Prescott AZ so that is on our list also.
Kara, what a wonderful trip you're planning!
Moto, we did ziplining when we were in Belize and it's so fun... I highly recommend it!
FYI: FI and I jumped off the Stratusphere last time we went to Vegas... TONS OF FUN, if anyone is into that sort of thing.
Thanks to all for the rec's... keep 'em comin!

Our plan originally was to drive to Disney, that didn't work out so we just stayed in Vegas.

We got a pretty good deal on a flight out of Vegas to Oakland and we're taking the hour drive to Napa.

We are, well for our mini-moon!
Getting married on 18th Sep and we're flying home on 21st Sep.
Going to be nice to just chill for a few days after the wedding.
Vegas is going to be a holiday for us anyway, we're going for 8 nights and we live in London where the sun never shines! Cool

We are staying in vegas for 5 nights (getting married on the 4th night) -- on our last night in Vegas we have a special evening planned just for us two, eating in a nice restaurant and seeing 'O'.

The next day us and 9 or our nearest and dearest are driving to L.A where we will be staying for a further 5 nights in a massive holiday home. It's nice because our families will actually have some time to get to know each other after meeting for the first time in Vegas.

Then we are off on our honyemoon - 8 nights at Secrets Silversands in Mexico. So we have the best of both worlds!

We are not staying in Vegas...alot of our guests are making a vacation out of it and as much as I like them...i didnt want to honeymoon with them. We are going to Riveria Maya for a week after we leave Vegas. But if you plan on staying in the area...2 summers ago we flew to Phoenix and visited with FI grandparents then rented a car and drove up into Sedona, Grand Canyon (south rim) Hoover Dam and then into Vegas. Sedona was soooo beauitful. I know there are some fab hotels there and I think would be a great place to honeymoon...and they have a great micro brewery close : )

We are staying until Tuesday, for our Saturday wedding, so it will be a bit of a mini-moon. We'll take advantage of our relaxing hotel (Platinum) and do some romantical things around town. We hope to go on a big honeymoon during the winter.

Everyone has such great plans, that's awesome!
Junebug, I have been to Sedona but FI has not so we may go up there since it is near Prescott (that's where the famous winery is).
Just came back from Phoenix and I almost thought I was at home with all the Canadian snowbirds living there (minus the rain and cold of course)!

We were going to drive to San Diego and hang on the beach, but in the end decided to book a trip to Playa Del Carmen. So now we will be at the Royal for five nights. Whoop Whoop!
