Nevada-Las Vegas

Vendor Rant

Those ladies who have read my past posts probably know how much I have talked up Firefly. It's FI and I's favorite restaurant in Vegas, it holds special meaning to us, price is great, view is great blabbity blah blah.

Well, in January I recieved an e-mail that they were closing the Firefly plaza location due to the hotel renovations. However, I was asured that my event would still be held there and it would be a seamless event even though the restaurant would be closed. They wanted to honor the contract that we had. They assured me that since we had booked the private room it would still be a great party. I took their word for it and kept my reception at the Plaza location.

Today, about 3 months out from our wedding, I get another e-mail. They are cancelling all events at the Plaza location which includes our wedding reception! Are you kidding me? 3 months from my reception I find out I can't have it there?

This is after invites have been sent (reception card included), centerpieces have been made (since I was allowed to bring in my own), cake has been selected based on their preferred vendors, etc.

WTH? I'm trying not to be a bridezilla about this but really? 3 months from our wedding! I'm just so overwhelmed I don't know what to do.

Oh wow, that really sucks, I'm so sorry this is happening to you!  What are they going to do to make it right?  Will they honor it at any of their other locations?  I know that's not what you'd want but maybe that would be an option...

Wow! That is terrible. I do not think you're being a bridezilla at all. I mean, maybe they have a good reason, like they got misinformation or something, but still...

Did they say anything else? Or is it just cancelled, and that's that? Do you get your money back?

I love the food at firefly, and even considered having my reception there. But, it seems like they may not have certain things together.

Have you asked if they are willing to carry over to another location?
The one on Paradise is still really close to the strip, so that might work for you. I realize it would have the same ambiance as the one on Fremont.
The new one on Saharah I'm told is nice. My friends did the interior design for it; the pics they showed me looked really good.

My friend in Vegas says that the one on Paradise is the best one. Also, if you want stay downtown try the golden nugget. There's a great steakhouse there (and on the top floor of Binions). Good luck to you!

Thanks ladies. They have offered me the option to move to the Paradise location, but Fiance and I really want to keep the reception downtown.

We're not sure what we're going to do at this point. Just a little disappointed all of this happened with such short notice.

Ugh!  You're well within your rights to be pissed, and you are NOT being a bridezilla.  I think it's time to get a bit nasty with them, considering their original communication to you stated that you could still have your reception there and that this new communication came only 3 months out from your event.  I'd threaten them with action to the Better Business Bureau or something unless they make up for the inconvenience. Good luck-- I'm sure at the end of the day, though, no matter where your reception is you'll have a great time!

That is awful. Frown I had my Bachelorette Night booked for there and they said they would honour it, but I decided to cancel as I didn't think the atmosphere would be up to much with noone else there. Glad I made that decision now, 3 weeks out.

It is difficult - our original reception venue also closed down (I am jinxed) and it wasn't just the PITA of rearranging everything, it was that the whole vision of how our wedding would be had to change.

Good luck finding somewhere else. If you accept their alternative venue offer make sure you haggle the prices right down and get yourself a very good deal.

Maybe fate has a much better venue in store for you! Thats how it worked out for me.

I am in the same situation, but just found out yesterday. I am soooo mad right now.
Firefly  should have notified all of their upcoming parties right away. How does ricekim get notified last week and me just yesterday? Want to cry right now. 3 months away...don't know what we're going to do. Isn't their paradise location in a strip mall?! yuck

The Paradise location is in a strip mall but the interior really does have a great vibe...  and TBH, I don't think your guests would be any more turned off by  a venue in a strip mall than they would have been by entering the Plaza.  I don't mean to sound bitchy but first impressions of the Plaza aren't that great until you actually get to Firefly...

Rainbow Gardens is in a strip mall and lots of people still get married there.  Don't be so down on strip malls.  It's not like there are strippers there.

    Well, on second thought....

Seriously? How did I get notified before you? Your event is before mine! wow. I'm so over their customer service with this ordeal right now.
