Trash The Dress Photography???

Any of you knotties thought about a TTD session? If so, where and when did you do it?

Re: Trash The Dress Photography???

  • Best photog by far for those is Mike L:

They have some examples on their site and in their blog http://www.mikelphotos.com/trash-the-dress-portfolio/

  • Was gonna suggest Mike haha! I want to do a TTD but for some reason I just don't want to lol. Plus my mom bought my dress and she'd kill me if I did something like that lol. However I bought my original dress and if I still had it I would totally do it lol.
  • We're totally doing it! I'm going to have my dad shoot them since he used to do some wedding photography back in the day, and I'm going to look for some "inspiration" shots ahead of time so we should be all set.

It will probably have to be the day after the wedding (yuck!). And I'd like to do them at the neon boneyard, but when I emailed them a few days ago they are closed for renovations again and don't know how things will be structured at that time. So HOPEFULLY we'll be there. If not I may do them back home instead and have my engagement photographer do them.

I'm not totally trashing it, but I love the ones where they're sitting somewhere a bit grubby, and some of the ones in water are just gorgeous!

The boneyard will still let you book private sessions; it's $300/hour.  We did an hour in the last time slot of the day, 7-8pm, last month.  You wouldn't want to do a TTD session at the boneyard, nor would they let you, because there is broken glass everywhere from the signs, so you have to be cautious when walking around in there, no rolling on the ground, barefoot, etc.

We did ours at the Boneyard last year - so much fun!  No trashing of the dress, it was more of a newlywed shoot.  We loved our photographer, Olga Wilson with Dott Photography.  http://dottblog.com/diane-jim-neon-museum/

Other places we considered for the shoot were one of the dry lakebeds around Vegas, or the Nelson Ghost Town.  I've seen some pretty cool shoots at both of those locations.

We did our out in the desert colse to Jean (about 20 min from the Strip) D. Tyler Photography did ours the Monday after our Friday wedding. I loved working with Deacon and we had so much fun shooting. And my dress didn't get trashed, just a little dirty

  • I have mine booked for the saturday after our wedding with Mike L.  I'm almost more excited about it than the wedding.  Almost. :)

</div><div>Hmmm, that's good to know. Wonder why theytold me they were closed? Maybe they're just planning to be at that time or something? I could have misunderstood. I emailed them last week to ask for prices and they said that they were closed and would be restructuring their pricing. (Which I took to mean raising <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" /> )</div><div>
</div><div>And yeah, I'm not a rolling around or barefoot kind of girl, so not a problem. I was planning on wearing my new custom wedding chucks anyway. I guess I'm doing more of a Rock the Dress session than Trash the Dress! I just won't be worrying about the bottom getting all dirty or screwing up my hair or anything.</div><div>
</div><div>ETA- Just checked my email from them and they aren't booking past July right now, and then " <span style="color:#454545;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12px;line-height:normal;text-align:-webkit-auto;background-color:#ffffff;">photoshoots will be priced and organized differently</span> " when they reopen. But they're unclear on when that will be. Has anyone else heard more than that?

  • We haven't done our shoot yet (recent job loss) but we are considering either Mike L, he did our wedding day photos, Todd & Bentley or Joey Allen.
  • We are going to do ours in September either in Nelson or at the boneyard. I don't think I'll trash my dress, but I really want some outdoor photos since it was way too hot here to do them on wedding day. We are using mike l....I loved working with todd but I chose mike l because they have a great ttd package.
