to order programs or to not order programs?

what do you think? are you/did you do programs for your short & sweet ceremony? Part of me thinks it's another thing I'd have to haul down there (and guests may just leave behind or throw out...another part of me thinks it would be nice to have a way to give the guests written reception info like where its at, when it starts, etc., since there's a small gap in btw. the ceremony/reception.  Although the minister can probably announce that...

We didn't do programs, however, we did do a printed "itinerary" for everyone that we mailed out about 2 weeks before the wedding.  Almost everyone brought it with them and used that to know where the ceremony was, where we were, etc.  People loved it!

We're not doing programs and I don't think anyone will miss them.

We're doing programs, since our ceremony is a little bit more complex. But for short sweet ceremonies, I don't think programs are needed.

We aren't doing programs either - our ceremony is only 11 minutes and we don't have any prayers, sand or unity ceremony -- so there's not much for us to write about, really!

I have however just put together a mail-out with maps, directions, events, times, important info (ie. pick up points, no photography during the ceremony, etc) and a timeline of our day so people know what to expect.

I was about to start an identical thead lol.  I think we've decided against programs though; 99% of guests throw them away, the wedding website has all the same info for people who really care who's in the wedding party, our ceremony, cocktails and reception are all in the same place, we did pocket invites that have cards with most of the important stuff already, etc.  I figure it's just a waste of money and paper in our case, and I've never kept programs from friends' weddings haha.

@VegasGroom that is what I'm really worried about- seeing (or heariing about them) going in the trash.

I think I will go with no programs, but I'm still going to sleep on it.

I thought about mailing the itinerary deal out, but we aren't hosting any events other than the reception and I'm just not sure what I'd put in there.

Ditto this, since ours is a tad more complex with a wine ceremony etc. I think we'll do them.  There's certain people we want to write a little memorial deal about, including one of my FI's best friends who was to be a groomsmen who passed recently, his brother is standing in for him to honor him, so we want to write about that. Plus it gives guests something to look at:)  I always like to look at them at weddings.  Vistaprint always has deals if you sign up with them.  My mom will probably do ours for nothing.

If you are going to do them, I would probably go the Vistaprint route.
The prices I saw for their programs (printing front & back) were:
    40- $15.49
    60 - $21.99
    80 - $27.99

I'm a Upromise member, so it gives me an extra discount but if you sign up on Vistaprint's website, they email coupon codes all the time.

    ETA: I can't spell :(

We didn't do programs for the 10min ceremony - but I did a pre-event mailer 2 wks before with some luggage tags.  The Mailer included:

Schedule of events (even ones we weren't hostiing)
    Day of Wedding Timeline
    Our contact information!
    Places to eat
    Clubs/Bars
    Shows / Things to do
    Places to shop
Things to know (Closest Drug store, conventions in town, etc.)
    Vegas Trivia

Just about everyone brought theirs with & the Vegas first-timers really appreciated the "guidebook."  Just be warned - this "project" can quickly get out of hand if you're detail-oriented with design experience...I originally wanted to send out 2-3pgs...it ended up being 12 pages!
     Surprised

    Good luck!

This is what we did too. Also with a map of the strip, things for people to do, see, etc.
Plus our contact information (cell #'s, where we would be, etc.)
