Kids

I'm at a loss when it comes to the little ones at the reception. We have a daughter so (obviously) our reception will be kid friendly. Now our baby is only 2 so she will be sitting with grandma who will be watching her for most of the reception.

There will be 8 other kids between the ages of about 5-8ish. Is it a bad idea to have a kids table? Were having a family style lunch so will it be hard for them to serve themselves? Former Maggiano's brides, did the servers help with this?

My mom tells me not to worry because the parents and other adults will be around so it won't get out of control. Opinions? What did everyone else do?

I think your mom is right, but if makes you feel more comfortable maybe pay a teenage cousin to keep them busy during the reception.

I preferred not to have kids at my reception.  We even have 2 kids.  They will be involved in the ceremony and some of the reception but we are having the youngest go home with a babysitter.

I didn't want to have to worry about this very reason.  I wanted parents to be able to enjoy their evening and not tending to their kids and all that marinara sauce thats gonna get everywhere.

I second the PP, hire a teenager to keep them busy.

They may be a little to young for a kids table, but if someone is willing to keep an eye on them and help them when needed.  I don't know if a serve would be will to help the kids when needed you should call and ask the restaurant.
