Ceremony Music - Mandalay Bay

Happy New Year, fellow Knotties :)

My FI and I were looking over the choices for ceremony music this week and I could use your expertise.  We're getting married at VOF at MB.  I'm a musician, so this portion of our ceremony is very important to me.

Do the violinist/pianist play everything on the list, or do they play a CD for the pop songs?  For example, there's a Jason Mraz song we want as part of the seating music and prefer his recording.  Similarly, if you bring a CD, can you just bring a disc for seating music only, and have them play the ceremony music?

I don't mind the musicians playing the classical pieces, but if they're going to play pop songs, too, we may just use a CD of our preferred pieces.

Thanks, all! :)

I asked a few hotels about this during my scouting trip.  I decided on Planet Hollywood, and the WC is working with me on the songs.

From my understanding, they will allow you to play your own music if it is on a CD (no IPOD).  You can play your music for seating and during the ceremony.  You have to have it in order on the CD and they will work it for you.

I am having an India Arie song for seating.  A Katy Perry song for the bridal party walking down the aisle, and a Bruno Mars song for when I walk down the aisle.  Then, I am having that new song Marry Me by Train for our unity sand part, and a Natalie Cole song after they announce patners for life.  I am doings super non traditional.

I still have to figure out if I need to record snippets of the songs to the CD, since it won't take a whole 4 minutes for each part of the song...

I got married at VOF and the violinist played all of our songs.  There is no piano at the waterfall so you would have a violinist -- I think, however, you can opt for your own cd--not positive though.  We walked out to a Billy Joel song and it was played by the violinist--not a recording.

    Thanks, ladies!  This is helpful.

I love classical music, and we will definitely have classical music during the ceremony.  However, I think pop songs are more fun during seating :)  I didn't realize there wasn't a pianist at VOF, so that helps make my decision, too!

You can have your own music at VOF, one of the brides on here had AC/DC Highway to Hell playing I think when the groom was coming in :-)

This is basically what we'd want to do, but the opposite :)  Thanks, all!!
