I'm back with reivews!! (Long)

Let me start by saying thank you to all the regulars on this board. You ladies helped me so much, considering that I'd never been to Vegas and was planning from afar. I couldn't have done it without you!!!

Chapel of the Flowers: A The wedding coordinators at the COF were incredibly helpful each step of the way and were even responsive to a couple of unusual requests. They promptly answered my numerous questions, usually within a matter of an hour or so, and went the extra mile to help calm my nerves the week before the wedding when I forgot they had handled a detail I was worried about. The minister was great!!! We didn't feel rushed at all; an amazing thing considering the number of weddings happening at the same time or within minutes of ours. Our photographer Vanessa was amazing (request her if you get the chance!!!). I don't consider myself very photogenic and was worried it would be difficult to choose the 18 ceremony and 35 posed photos that came with our package. Vanessa took over 225 photos in a matter of 45 minutes and there were only a few stinkers. She really knew how to pose us so we looked our best. We hadn't planned to purchase the photo cd with all the pictures and the photo rights, but thanks to Vanessa we changed our minds.

There were only a couple of things that kept me from giving COF an A+. The first was location. COF is located just north of the Stratosphere next to a motel that looks like it rents rooms by the hour and an adult bookstore. Not exactly a great location, but high walls around the grounds manage to make it feel secluded or at least removed from some of the seedier elements in the surrounding neighborhood. The second was the cost of the photo cd and photo rights. $695 on top of the $300 photo upgrade package included with our ceremony seems a little steep, but as I mentioned above the pictures turned out GREAT so we decided to bite the bullet.

Layers Bakery: A
+ This all natural bakery uses real butter and cream...YUMMY!!! They also don't use any preservatives or artificial flavors. In fact we had to change one of the flavors we ordered because they weren't able to buy fresh raspberries this time of year. A minor inconvenience, but one I was willing to live with considering the knowledge that they don't compromise quality.

We wound up with two dozen jumbo stuffed cupcakes and a six inch cake for the top of our cupcake tree all for less than $110 with tax. Their fillings (we chose cookies and cream for one dozen and strawberries and cream for the second dozen) were decadent and tasted truly sinful. Just what I want when eating cake.

Bell Trans: A+
Bell Trans was great!! We used them to take everyone down to Fremont Street for a reception after party. When I originally called to make the reservation, we weren't yet sure of a final guest count. They suggested I reserve a larger bus and downsize if needed since they only have about 10 of the larger buses. This is what we did and it worked great. Our driver Dwayne was amazing. He put up with our INCREADIBLY rowdy crowd and even managed to do it with a smile; more than I'm sure I could have done if I was in his shoes.

Sin715...My sister in-law is a hair stylist/makeup artist. She did my hair and makeup for me. My friends own a timeshare at the Grandview Resort, south of McCarran Airport and across the street from the South Point Casino. They were kind enough to allow us to use their suites for the reception. We also stayed at the Grandview for our honeymoon. I hadn't bothered to review the Grandview since it's a timeshare so far south of the action, but I will since you asked. :o)

Grandview Resort: D+ BEWARE...Stay here at your own risk and if you do, make sure to ask for a suite in the newer buildings!!! We wound up with 2 connected one-bedroom suites that were mirrors of each other. Each suite had a full kitchen (nice considering that we catered our own cocktail reception for 20) and a LARGE bathroom (great for pre-wedding hair/makeup) but there were a number of serious problems.

We were originally supposed to have 4 one-bedroom suites, but they lost the second half of our reservation. This left many of our guests scrambling to find accommodations. My poor sister and a friend had to sleep on the pull out couches until we could find them another place to stay.

The furniture also left much to be desired. The couch in one of the suites had a noticeable rip and the two overstuffed chairs in the other suite had a couple small stains. The coffee tables in each room had a number of nicks and rub spots and there were a couple of black smudge marks on the walls in each room. None of these were huge, but I'm glad my reception decor called for dimmed lights and lots of candles!!! Our group is pretty laid back and no one seemed to notice. Everyone kept saying how beautiful everything was and I guess it was if you didn't look too close.

The one thing that really pushed me over the edge was that the two person Jacuzzi tub in one of the suites kept spitting out this DISGUSTING black stuff. My poor friend, who was staying in that room, had housekeeping come twice to clean it. They even cleaned it using this horrible smelling chemical that drove everyone from the room (thankfully this was the day after the reception), but it never solved the problem. GROSS....This isn't something that happens from missing a cleaning just once. This is something that happens when a jetted tub isn't cleaned properly over time. Thankfully, the Jacuzzi tub in our room didn't have the same problem, but it still made me leary to use it.
