Quick Skyline Chapel at IP REVIEW--8/30/12 (PICS)

I know many of you are curious about this chapel so I will bust this out ahead of all the other reviews since I was the guinea pig.

Chapel: B+
Wedding Coordinators and Minister: C
Imperial Palace Floral: A (4 bouquets, 3 bouttannieres) $200

The casino is not as bad as everyone said (disgusting, dirty, nasty). It was fun! It is under construction which sucked. It took us forever to find the chapel. And finding our shuttles afterward was a pain. It was a blast walking through there in our wedding clothes.

My WC was not there at all. I met the minister and he explained how it all works. The chapel was cute. I won't say beautiful. Pretty? Maybe. I told them I wanted the blue lights and their standard set up is exactly what I wanted. I asked them to cover the picture up front which was some stupid garden scene. He said it wouldn't look right covered up and would be a black hole in my pics. I told him to put up the Vegas scene then, he said OK and NEVER did it. In the end, my pics came out great so I'm not trippin.

My Dad giving me away:

When the strange WC came in, she was nice, but a freaking idiot. I paid for my own CD to be used. I had 5 songs to be played:

-Sade "By Your Side" for guest seating and bridal party (repeat until e/o is in place)
-Case "Happily Ever After" for FI to walk out to
-Lion King "I Just Can't Wait to be King" for the kids to walk out to
-Alicia Keys- "I'm Ready" for me, and
-Ne-Yo "Let's Go" for the recessional.

Yeah, you are only supposed to have 4 songs, but I paid $125 for this CD and that should have been the end of the discussion. The WC could NOT understand how I wanted it to go. It took this chick all of the 15 minutes leading up to the ceremony until she got it through her head. At one point I almost threw the idea of having my own music out the door but my photographer and BMs told me NOT to back down to her and to TELL HER how it was gonna go. The flow went perfectly, the music sounded great and the WC told me afterward that it was a great idea. I don't know why it took her so long to get it at first.

I told the minister that I wanted to mention FI's deceased mother--again with resistance. My photog told me to stand my ground. He didn't want to mention something "sad" during the ceremony. He wouldn't mention her name. At this point, I was like "Fine. Whatever. Just mention that she would be proud." And he did, which almost brought out the water works for my husband so I understand why they don't want to mention sad stuff. But how hard is it to say her name??

It all worked out great in the end. The ceremony was short and sweet. I used my own photographer and my guests could take all the pics and videos they wanted. This was my main reason for booking IP and for that it was great. I hope the pro pics come out nice! The guests pics show the room looking brighter than I wanted it to look in pics.

If I could do it all over again, I would have had the ceremony in the same hotel as the reception. We had 45 guests and everyone fit fine with room to spare, but it was a challenge for guests to understand that there were 2 different venues and the construction threw people off. If MB would let me use my own photog the entire time and my own CD, I would have just done it there.

This is how I wanted it to look:

This is how it looked (non-pro pic):

  • Sorry you had some IP issues and you're WC was kind of a hot mess! But at the end of the day, it sounds like it all worked out. And I'm sorry your expectations weren't exactly met with the chapel. :( When I went to see it for you, from what I could see thru the door, it looked pretty/exactly like the website photos. And considering that the casino is in need of a makeover, I felt the chapel was waaayyyy nicer than what I saw downstairs! Sounds like the construction hasn't subsided at all, abd made things a bit confusing. Overall, I'm glad you had a GREAT day! You looked fab! Cant wait to hear how the Vista Suite was!

  • Omg this makes me nervous...ok I have so many questions! Did your guests arrive on their own or did you provide transportation? Why didn't they do the uplighting? Were your songs instrumentals or with lyrics? How long were you there (did you feel rushed)?

Congratulations!!  I reeeeally appreciate your reviews.  I booked the chapel at IP based on Steph's wedding (in the pro pic.)  I don't think you should worry too much about your photos.  It looks like the non-pro pic was taken using a flash, which will brighten the entire room.  The pic from Steph's wedding is taken without a flash, which I'm guessing your photog probably did as well.

I am concerned about the garden scene.  Like I said, I chose IP based on Steph's photos, which have no garden scene, no Vegas backdrop, nothing.  I wonder if the greenery is something they keep up there all the time now.  I'm really sorry to hear it didn't look as you intended :(

  • Oh man...that's what I'm worried about too..the WC is not going to be there on my wedding day. I'm sorry you had troubles with them. I'm happy to hear that the ceremony went well . Did they didn't change the lighting as what you requested? Or maybe the non pro pic just didn't show it very well. I want the purple theme for our wedding, I hope they can do that.

Thank you again for the review and  yay to be Mrs!

  • Thank you for the review (and for being our Guinea pig) :)  Sounds like it was stressful but you worked it out :)  Glad you didn't let it ruin anything or get you down! :)

  • Don't worry, most WC's in Vegas seem to last about four to six months, so chances are someone else will be there in her place soon. lol

Glad you took it in stride and things turned out good overall!

  • The non pro pic you posted still looks good, just not the same lighting. Perhaps a flash was used or was there more overhead lighting? Did you happen to look at the chapel before the ceremony? I made a point to the WC that if at all possible, I wanted to see it when we arrive (a day or two ahead of time) so I know what to expect visually, know where it's located, etc. I worry a lot, so I want as few surprises as possible. Haha! She said that shouldn't be a problem. I still can't believe it's so much for a CD, But that's probably what we'll end up doing too.... Do you happen to know the name of the WC? Sounds like overall everything panned out and was lovely in the end. Which I guess at the end of the day, that's what matters most :) You and your husband look great

We were going to do a walk-through the day before, but we were too busy so I cancelled it.
I wanted the purple lighting also and when the minister showed me the purple it looked magenta so I chose blue. I got the blue uplighting for sure, maybe it was just the flash of the non-pro cameras that washed out the up-lighting.

PNUTBUTR, don't be nervous. Guests arrived on their own. I told them all to be there at 3:45 for the 4pm ceremony and even with the construction EVERYONE was there on time except one couple who I didn't want there anyway (haha). I arrived at 3:30pm and had plenty of time. I didn't feel rushed AT ALL. I think after the ceremony and formal pics, we still left early or right on time (5pm--one hour). My timeline for the entire weekend was FLAWLESS if I do say so myself. My music was not instrumental--had all lyrics. I just downloaded the entire song of Sade "By Your Side" and told them to repeat it over and over until all guests were seated and all the bridal party was in place. Then they closed the doors and started Case "Happily Ever After", opened the doors and my FINE ass husband walked out to whistles (LOL). Once he was in place, they started Lion King "I Just Can't Wait to be King" and all the little kids walked out! SO CUTE! My 2 year old stole his sister's bouquet and you can't stop cute so we went with it!. Then they closed the doors again, dimmed the lights, started Alicia Keys "I'm Ready" opened the doors and I walked down with my dad at the pace I wanted at the place in the music I wanted. It was perfect. The dude running the CD was on point.

I don't remember the WC's name, but after me and my bridal party, I'm sure she will be more open minded. LOL\

The garden photo is changeable. They can change it to the black and white Vegas scene and cover it with a white sheer curtain, I just was too busy with other thoughts to make sure that last detail was taken care of. You can totally change it. Just tell your BM to remember to regulate when the day comes.

Vista Suite was PIMP!!! NO COMPLAINTS--no security!!!! DJ, Elvis and errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrythang!!!! More to come....
  • Thank so much for posting this review!  It's so helpful to me.  I'm definately going to arrange for to stop by the chapel a day or two before the ceremony just to make sure all the details are just right.  So glad you had a wonderful day in spite of the hiccups with the WC.  :)

Was the ceremony 10 to 15 minutes and then the other 45 minutes spent taking photos? I was trying to think in my head of when to start the reception, but i didnt know what time we'd leave the chapel and then some of us may stop at the hotel real quick most likely Flamingo. What time did you start your reception? Also, did you take your family formal pics in the chapel, or somewhere nearby? I wasn't sure if they let you hang around a bit to take some photos in the chapel.
  • Gr8 review, thank you for all the detail - IP is totally on my list still... I know to stand my ground re: the pic... but you know, the garden one really suits your wedding... I really like it :)

    Congrats!!!!

I know you're busy enjoying your hubby so thanks for responding. I'm about to book them and just wanted to make sure we're making the right decision lol! I think I may go for songs with lyrics as well, it's more meaningful to me I think :)

Emilia, you get the chapel for an hour. I had it from 4-5 but arrived 30 min early. I arrived at 330pm, entered the bridal suite, ceremony was at 4pm, over by 415 and then we had 45 minutes for formal pics. We did a 2 hour strip tour before the ceremony so the time left in the chapel was fine for formals. We didn't take any pics around the IP. I started my reception at 6:30pm, which gave an 1.5 hour break. I shuttled guests back to the MB and this gave us enough time to get back to the MB, run up to the suite, let the final vendors in and get the party started. It worked out perfectly.

I did the ala carte deal so the CD was extra. I didn't get a package.
  • Pnutbutr I asked about music opens and was told the CD was 125, the same as Krisstyle mentioned. Or 150 for a pianist, and i think it was more for a violinist... Perhaps because we didn't do a package... I wish they would say that's why so that we don't all feel like we're all getting different info for the same thing...
  • Thanks so much, Kris! Very helpful!!! So the formal pics you took were just in the chapel? I wanted to take some in the chapel afterwards with the folks but didn't know if they kicked you out afterwards, haha!! We are doing a 2 hr strip tour before with the wedding party, so I want photos with re family after. And we need to find a place to do a big group photo. I want at least one photo with everyone who attends in it. Not sure how we'll do that... We are looking into buffets, some close to IP and then Wicked Spoon. I didn't know what a realistic time frame was to start the reception since I don't want our party showing up late. Thanks again!!! Photos are great! And we appreciate the reviews
  • @krisstyle...so you made it to the suite before your guests to let the vendors in? We're having an insuite too but no doc so I need to figure out what to do. @Emilia, agreed! Oh and FYI, we already booked our officiant so IP is charging $50 for us to use her.
  • Emilia, yes formals were in the chapel after the ceremony. Like I said, you get it for an hour. Your ceremony is the first 15 min and then you have 45 min for formals. It's plenty of time. We did our huge entire group photo at the LV sign the night before the wedding during our DDB tour. My time frame was:

    12:30pm: Done getting ready
1pm: First Look at the Four Season's Fountain
1:30-3:30pm: Photo Strip Tour with bridal party (about 3 stops)
Limo dropped bridal party off at IP.
3:30-4pm: Rest in bridal suite, argue with the WC about my music (LOL)
    4-4:15: ceremony
    4:15-5pm: formals in IP chapel
5pm: Bel trans shuttles guests back to MB

Guests knew the reception started at 6:30 pm so they did whatever they wanted until then. It goes fast so don't worry about that. You need that time to get back to your suite and freshen up/relax. I was back in the suite by 5:45pm and my family and bridal party let the vendors in.

If you are doing a buffet and its in your budget, I say do Wicken Spoon and only leave an hour for guests to get from IP to Wicked Spoon. It's close. It'll work out great that way!
  • Hi Krista, ok I have one more question..lol..where did the bus pick up the guests from? Did they use the hotel entrance?

  • 50 because it is an outside minister? Wow! Everything adds up. I'm thinking of bouquet alternative because flowers are expensive and they wanted to charge me to do a brooch bouquet or anything like that. I really like my coordinator, she's been nothing but helpful and responsive, but everything has a price...
  • Krista thanks! I think I will plan an hour between. I know where IP and Cosmo are, but have no gauge on how close they are to one another, and maps make it look like they're all next to each other. So Cosmo is close by then? As of now, I'm leaning towards Wicked or the new Caesar's buffet they're opening next week Bacchanal buffet. I was going to scope them out for a while and see since Caesar's is closer. I want to decide that by early next year... Heard nothing but great things about Wicked! So, did your daughter have fun!? Her dress is cute too. Was she able to do some stuff in Vegas?

Yes but to us it's worth it...wait, my wc said no charge for brooch bouquets but they charge $150 for real and silk flowers.
  • Congrats! Sorry to hear about the coordinator. Can't wait to see more pictures! :)
  • Eviliciouxz~There is no front entrance at this point. It's all under construction. So the bus picked us up at the Bus/Shuttle entrance which was a pain in the ass to get too, especially with a big group and an elderly woman. It will probably be much easier when you get married.
  • Thank you for replying. I was worried because you mentioned it's kind of a hassle in your review. :).

  • Pnutbutr - I've heard others say there is no fee for a brooch bouquet, but I was told it would be $75! Crazy!!
