Nevada-Las Vegas

Hello! and Scouting Questions

Hi Everyone! My long-time partner, Erik, and I recently decided to start planning our Vegas wedding! We've been talking about a Vegas wedding for a long time...but it's never seemed like the "right time" and we never seem to have "enough" money. After much discussion, I think we've finally realized that there will never really be a perfect time and we'll never be able to afford an extravagant wedding (nor do we want one at this point). Anyway, I've been lurking here on and off for quite some time...now that we're "officially" planning, I wanted to say Hi!

We're heading out to Vegas next week for a scouting trip. Our flight's scheduled to get into Vegas around 11:30 on Sunday then we'll leave early Wednesday morning. So basically, we'll have 2 1/2 days to go look at places. I'd prefer to NOT make many appointments if possible...I basically want to walk in, take a quick look, and if we don't like the place, move onto the next. So here are the places I'd like to visit while I'm there. What places do I definitely need to have an appointment?

Ceremony sites:
Springs Preserve
Mandalay Bay
Caesar's Palace
Planet Hollywood

Reception:
Maggianos
Joe's
Trevi
Firefly

I'd also like to check out some of the suites while we're there. How does that work? Maybe it's a silly question, but do I just go to the front desk and ask?

Thanks in advance for your help! Any other tips or suggestions of places to add to my list would be helpful!

    Hello!
We didn't need an appointment to tour Caesar's.  When I called both MB and PH they requested we come at a certain time.  Maybe you could call and ask?
Have fun on your scouting trip!

    Congrats and welcome..
You should call and make appointments. Caesars is the only place that didnt require an appointment..

    Have fun!!

I would also suggest to at least call and ask if you need an appointment or if there's maybe a time range that would be best for you to stop in. Sometimes they have back to back weddings so the chapels won't be available. As for suites, you can just go to the front desk. It's going to depend on whether or not the suites are vacant. Have fun on your trip!

Welcome!  I'm in the midst of planning my scouting trip as well and am planning on checking out the following places:

    Ceremony//
    Wynn
    Mandalay Bay
    Caesar's

    Reception//
    Mandalay Bay Ballrooms/Catering
    Caesar's Ballrooms/Catering
    Cili
    Maggiano's
    Trump
    Cosmopolitan

I emailed one of the wedding coordinators at MB and she said to definitely make an appointment there, so I would drop them a line and nail down a specific time for that particular venue.  As for the others, I only have appointments at Cili and the Wynn so far (both of which wanted to make specific appointments).  Need to make more.

    Hope this helps!

I'm planning a wedding and have mine booked with the Wynn and then Maggianos. Food is amazing and the prices are reasonable. 3 course meal for about $41.95 a person and that includes your soft drinks, coffee, tea and 2 desserts! They're pretty flexible and don't charge a cake cutting fee where other places do.  Their "house" linen they provide suits us well and is included in the minimum so its one less thing to worry about.

I did a scouting trip around Halloween and I was stuck between the Wynn and Mandalay for my wedding - its fun planning :)

    Good luck

PS: Dont be afraid to ask any further questions about Maggiano's before/after your trip

Thanks so much everyone for weighing in! I'll have to get on top of my calls tomorrow. :-) Just a little stressed out about trying to squeeze everything in while we're there. I'm also thinking about trying to book a photographer for some last minute e-pics...and maybe some cake tasting.

And now my head's spinning. :)
