Nevada-Las Vegas

RSVPs: How many guests did you get?

Hi gals (and Vegasgroom)--

I just did my scouting trip to Vegas and I found myself a bit flustered when I couldn't really answer the "how many people are you expecting?" question.  We're inviting about 110, but I have no idea how many will show-- for all I know, I could have as few as 60 or as many as 95.  I know the usual rule of thumb is that 20% or so will decline, but I figure having our wedding in Vegas might throw a wrench into that equation.

How many guests did you invite, and how many actually came?

we only invited family and close friends....about half of our invited guests made the trip to Vegas.

We invited about 125 and so far we're at 60 confirms and four declines with another month before the rsvp deadline date.  I'm gonna be drinking some nice champagne if we don't get mostly accepts since I have to meet the minimum spend at the venue either way lol.

We sent out 50 invitations, so invited an average of 100 people. I knew the mjaority would not be able to attend as they are all based in the UK and Australia. We ended up with 28 which is the perfect amount (originally budgeted for 25)

I know, it is awesome! Most of them have never been to Vegas (or the US in general!) so it will be a fun four days!

We invited 65 guests and still have a month to go for RSVPs... think we are at around 30 accepts.  I have been keeping in touch with my invitees as best as I can to see who has booked flights and has/is putting a significant effort into booking flights to keep me sane when it comes to the planning.  With that being said... I am guessing we will have around 45 guests in Vegas.

With all the plus ones and including ourselves, our list is 69 people long.  We expect to get between 55 and 60.  Which works out because our minimum is $5615.  We used 75 when booking the rooms, but honestly, the room for 50 would have been a little tight.  Instead of doing rounds of 10 we are doing rounds of 8 so it takes up more space and the room doesn't feel empty.

Also, you have to plan on 100% attendance, because what happens if everyone comes?  I would NOT be surprised to have 68 guests (Grandma is not coming) show up...even when many are traveling from the east coast.  You are from NorCal so if many of your guests are coming in from there, you should count on the high side.

The only people that we invited who we could possibly envision not coming are people with very small children/babies or older people with health problems.  However, we aren't inviting one person (except for Grandma) where we said, oh, he/she probably won't come.  That's probably why we have a relatively short list of 35 couples (some couples include a plus one).

We invited 129 and have about 72 that are already booked or saying they are for sure coming.  I believe that there are about 50+ that have booked so far so I am expecting that we wil have around 70.  Hope that helps!

Agreed with Smokeybailey!! Our guestlist was originally about 108 (our ceremony site seats 100, plus us and our wedding party) but somehow ballooned to 140 once I sent out all the save the dates.

Now I'm in panic mode until late August or whenever our RSVP date will be. There were some dates who weren't accounted for on our original guest list and my dad (who is helping financially) added about 12 people!

To make my blunder worse, 90% of everyone we've talked to has said "OMGZ YES we're coming FOR REALZ." I try to take deep breaths, because we know for sure that 4 people are definite no's, and when it comes time to book, there are at least 12-15 of those people that probably will not want to spend the money.

Long story short: don't assume people won't come! I have a friend who is having another baby in early August and she has told us repeatedly that she is still coming.

Ditto PP's - you'll be surprised at how many people will actually say yes.  With all of the +1's and the list FMIL gave us (she's paying for the rehearsal dinner so I can't complain too much), we've invited about 160 people.  So far just counting the family who is definitely coming, bridal party and people who have already booked, we have at least 60 definites already.  It will be interesting to see what happens once the RSVP's start coming in!

    Natrasha-
Your reception is at the Platinum, right?
Are you using Misori or Kil@Wat?

    OP-
my guest list is 98 + us so 100 total. There are only a few who are questionable as to if they would come or not (my cousins, who I havn't seen in years, and a few of my girlfriends have said their going to leave the husbands at home with the kids and make it a 'girls weekend'.) So any vendors I've talked to I give them the largest possible number, 100 to make sure everyone would fit, and the "what if" number, 80, to make sure I will be able to meet venue minimums and what not.

We invited about 140, and 48 came.  Which was more than I thought would come.

We invited 72 and so far have 29 attending, our RSVP date is 1 March. That's coming all the way from New Zealand! From what others have said I think we will get about 35. People who I didn't think would make it have surprised me, but I think that's because it's so far away they are using it as an excuse to see some more of the world .

We invited 160, 70 showed up.  We really planned on about 100 people and went with the restaurant buyout.  We had about 25 people who told us how excited they were when they got the save the date and then didn't come at the last minute.  I was really upset about it.  But our venue was awesome and use lighting and furniture to make the place seem just as full as if we had >100 people.  We had an awesome time with our smaller group.

We invited 106 total (for 108 with us).  Today was my official RSVP by date, since our wedding is March 19th.  I don't know if this is typical or not, but I still have 14 people (7 couples) who just failed to respond by the deadline.  I'll have to follow up with them all later this weekend. We had 10 people RSVP that they would come, but later called to tell us that they didn't find "cheap enough tickets" (One of which was supposed to be a groomsman BTW).  So now I'm only counting people who I know have confirmed plane tickets!  That total is 41.

We invited 115 and 100 showed. We did invite a few at the end when we found out some couldn't come. They were ok with it. We had planned for 100. Also in the end some people seemed to be inviting themselves! Odd....but worked out since we wanted 100. : )

A little late here, but MissScareAll, we are using Kil@Wat and the pool deck.

Did you all get a flood of rsvp's at first then it tapered off until close to RSVP date?  We got a probably 45 of our responses in the first two weeks, then over the next four we've had maybe 17; still have another month to go until the reply by date.
