Tacky???

Would it be tacky for us to have our "mini" reception at a buffet?? And if not...what is a nice "gourmet" buffet in Vegas??

Seconding PP, the M Resort buffet is very good.  FI and I live down that way and go every now and again.  But, it is a way out of the main area of LV.

If you're looking to stay on the Strip, Paris and MB also have nice, more upscale, buffets.

Here's a link for the best buffets: http://www.lasvegasdirect.com/topbuffet.html

I can't be much help on what's best.  I haven't tried a lot of them out.

I'm so glad to see this post!  We aren't having a reception, but my parents are paying for everyone to go to dinner after and my mom seems set on a buffet!  All I can picture is carrying big tumbler cup of Pepsi back to our booth ahhhhhhh!  She also only wants to pay for food not booze, do they even serve booze at buffets there?  If so, is it extra or included?  She was saying MGM buffet?  Is that nice since I have no clue?  We want to stay on the strip so I will def check the ones mentioned in PP.

Most of the buffets serve beer and wine at an extra price, and you have to get it yourself.  At the M Resort, beer and wine are included in the adult price.

I've never ordered a drink at one of the buffets, but I have seen people ask.  They'll send over one of the cocktail waitresses to get your order, but it could take a long time.

We are doing a buffet reception at the MGM Buffet and they were able to set us up with a semi-private room including our own server for drinks.  Beer, wine, and mix drinks are extra and you can set a budget or only allow certain items to be served (such as no shots, etc).  My parents walked through the buffet to see it and said it was very nice.

I swear by The M Hotel (the buffet is called Studio B).  We took our entire group there for our after wedding dinner.  The buffet should cost $50 a person for what they offer!!!!!

Check out my review on my webpage.  They were amazing.  I will have some pics from there soon.  Ooo...that's another thing...AMAZING photo stop place at the hotel.  Brand new and gorgeous.

    Rachel,

Did you call ahead to make a reservation for Studio B?  Will they even let you?  How far are they off the strip?  Did you have everyone meet there or provide transportation?  I think they sound like our best bet since we have some drinkers in our group and parents don't want to have a huge bar bill so this would def be the way to go!  TIA

Mirage Buffet is nice..they have such a wide variety of food including sushi etc. Its a really nice buffet and they do have alcohol although I cant remember if that was included or not. Try and do a search of the buffets.
I havent been to the M resort but heard such great things about it and its very new.
Good luck and let us know what you decide on.

Do you think a group of 16 would have a problem going to a buffet or would we need reservations?  I'd like to do a group buffet dinner one night of our trip but each couple would pay their own way.

We aren't having anything official at a buffet, but my plan for the night before our wedding is to say "we are going to X buffet at X time if you want to come." I really didn't want to spend time/ money coordinating events, but I think a buffet is an easy way for people to pay for themselves, but all have dinner together.

BTW My dad got married in Vegas in August of 2008, and we all just showed up without a reservation, and it was really easy. There were around 30 of us, and it was at a buffet at one of the hotels downtown.

Here's is what you need to do:

Call the hotel, ask who the restaurant manager is at Studio B.  I will have to dig through my work e-mail to find her name...I think it is Marie or Maria...or something that starts with an "M".  :-)

Call her, e-mail her, let her know you are traveling a long with with a big group.  As for a VIP line pass.  She sent me an e-mail to use it as a "pass".  I just took it with me during our wedding.  We got in line at the VIP (very short line).  It took them like 20 mins to put the tables together, but that was all.  We ended up taking some pictures around the beautiful grounds (go downstairs and outside at night, beautiful pics).  I will be getting my final photos this week and I will post on there so you can see how pretty it was!  Mindy Bean was our photographer.

Anyways, the wine/beer are awesome, but you just have to go up to the buffet to get it.  NO LINES FOR IT!!!!  We had such an amazing time there.  Plus it was a nice dinner that we didn't have to sit forever at to get served.  We took all of our guests to Fremont Street afterwards.  So many people complimenting us!!!!  Lol.

Good luck with everything. opps...forgot to say we had 24 people in our group and we provided a limo for the night through Earth Bus.
