Cake topper?

Our 6 inch cake at the top of our cupcake tower has a detailed design on it....should I still do a cake topper? I wanted one but since I can't decide I am about to just skip it all together. Did you/are you having a cake topper? points for pics

We had a cake topper, pics in my bio. 
With the design on the top you might not need one actually, could be overkill.

This is our cake inspiration that Retro is doing for us, the top tier will be the size/detail.  If we do one, it would just be a black monogram of some sort.

we are doing a 6" topper and cupcakes from Retro. This is one of the areas i'm letting my guy's zombie love feed into lol

So the cake itself is going to be like this:

And for the topper, we picked this one up on our scouting trip to vegas last september and he's going to paint it up for him being a zombie
