Favors

Is anyone NOT having favors? I really find myself not caring about favors and thinking of it as a waste of money. I feel like dinner, alcohol, dessert, and the party is enough. Plus, I would bet about half my guests won't even be going to their room after the reception.

Maybe I'll have some little boxes for any leftover cupcakes and people can take them back to their rooms...

Any insight on this? Or if you are doing favors, what are you doing?

MEEE! I am not having any favors and I'm not making any apologies for it.  We already have so much decor and attire to haul down with us, favors would just be another hassle.  Plus we're afraid that our guests will either not take their favors from the receptions (I have seen that happen at to many weddings) or be annoyed that they have to take their favor back to their hotel room instead of just going out after the reception. I guess a 'delayed' favor will be a professional photo with travis allen that we'll email or mail to them after we get our photo CD back.

I think that favors can be a very big waste! I did them, but they were not expensive (shoot glasses). I think if you decide to do them, then go with an edible favor, otherwise. Meh. They get left...

I stressed about this for months but just decided to just do M&Ms in tulle. I know, totally lame, but every wedding I go to I sure do eat all of those damn M&Ms!!! FI didn't see the point of them so he didn't want me to spend a lot of money, so I just bought some tulle circles on eBay for like $2 or something and am going to stock up on M&Ms after v-day since they will be in my colors :D

Its true, if you do something big, breakable, or wasteful, they will probably get left behind.

We bought cheapie glass jars at Party City and filled them with M&Ms in our colors that we bought at the M&M World store on LV Blvd.

Not very expensive and everyone loved having a little something to take with them.

Not doing 'em.  I'd like to have our photographers get a picture of every couple who attends, which we can then order prints of and mail to them along with our thank you notes after the wedding.

We are going to do them, but only luggage tag favors, that I may just send to everyone before the wedding.  They were $15 to make 100.  But if I hadn't already ordered and completed them there would be no favors.

We're doing two edible favors, and a CD and will be putting them in the Welcome Bags that we'll be dropping off at all the hotels the guests are staying.  Info in my bio of what we're doing.

Nope, no favors for us either.  We'll have a photobooth though so guests will get the picture strip from the booth.

We're going to have favors only because I'm fixated, I admit. I just want to follow this little italian tradition and give out assorted confetti and pair them with a CD of songs from the wedding. Maybe get personalized bags and add some tissue paper in our colors... what a waste of money, I know. We only have 20 guests though, is it a good excuse? :)

This. I want to do a photobooth guest book. My friend had one at her wedding where they'd past one set into the book and we all signed and we got the other set to take with us.
I like matchbooks too for some reason. I don't even use them but anytime I'm at a bar/restaurant/wedding where they have a box/booklet of matches, I take them.

We're doing favors, every party my family throws, there's always favors for the guests. lol. We have native handmade favor bags from the Philippines and I stuffed them with personalized hugs & kisses and belgian chocolate poker chips. They taste good!

You could always do something little like a deck of cards ... you can grab it and put it in your purse or put in guest rooms before.

I highly doubt I'll do favors, but I like some of the more personalized and unique suggestions that I've read here.  If we spend $$ on something, I want people to remember it.

I really like the idea of mailing people pictures after the fact.  Don't think a photo booth will be in the budget, but I'm spending on a photographer anyways, so why not?

I don't think anything that is important to you are something you'd like to have at the wedding would be a waste of money, you only get one wedding right, why not do it up how you'd like:)  That's how I look at it at least!  We're doing a CD as one of our favors too.  We're big music people, as are our friends, so I know they'll appreciate it and actually listen to it, and if not, they'll be cheap to make so no biggie.

I personally dislike favours. I think they are a bit of a waste. I don't even really like the edible ones but I am biased as I am diabetic and have never eaten sweet things! If I was having a wedding at home I would do edible favours (it is common to do scorched almonds here). We are hoping to do poker chips for everyone to a casino (probably the one where our reception is) and hit the tables together after the reception.

We did favors.  I ordered individual boxes of truffles from Godiva.  They were delivered to the reception site so it was super simple.  I liked sending my guests off with a little snack for later.

We're not doing favors but we did do poker chips that are going out with our save the dates.  We worked with Best Wedding Favors and were super happy with the results!

We did edible favors and we had a photobooth album. I loved the idea that 2 strips were printed, one for our album where they wrote us a message, and one for our guests to take. It's a good feeling when i go to our friends/relatives and I see the strip on their refrig or framed. We also had chocolate covered fortune cookies and Mexican wedding cookies.

Mom:  Do you still need favor boxes?  Hobby Lobby has some on sale I can grab for you.
Me:  Thanks, Mom, but we're not doing favors.
Mom:  Really?  You're not going to have anything that says "Thanks for coming" or anything like that?
Me:  I think four hosted meals and an open bar says "Thanks for coming" a lot better than a cardboard box and eight M&Ms.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

I was unsure of favors as well.  I was thinking of shot glasses since I am doing adult only reception.  Figure they could come in handy at some part of the evening and they would be small enought to fit into somebodies purse!
