In Vegas with a train....

Ok so ladies who have bought there dresses do you have a train? I have one and have made a choice after visiting the seamstress to cut it off. I just can't see walking around in Vegas with it and to bustle it would just be heavy.. Has anyone else done this?

  • I thought about it and just decided to bustle.  Too much $$ to remove the train.
  • My wife bustled hers, but the extent of her walking was mostly just around the Mandalay property for pictures, then back to the reception where she just danced in it.  It didn't bother her too much for the first four or five hours but needing your friends to help you go to the bathroom can be an adventure, and she was ready to get it off when we changed into less formal stuff for the final two hours of the reception.

  • Hmmm good to know. It's going to cost me 300 to remove train and hem dress.... Guess I could ask what the cost to bustle may be ....

  • im looking for a dress without a train or a court train which is smaller
  • I'm planning on getting it bustled. It's not a long train but I think it will look pretty for pictures and the ceremony.

  • Great post-
This is something i didn't really think about when i bought my dress.  My dress was beautiful and it had a train on it.  We did a photo tour after the ceremony.  There just never really seemed to be a good time to bustle the dress so we ended up doing it in the limo betweeen photo stops.  Overall it went ok, but you will definitely need help to go to the bathroom even with it bustled.  Once the dress was bustled everything went fine for me.  It all depends on your level of comfort.

Hint to everyone concerned about going to the bathroom - pee backwards - meaning, lift your dress up from the front and sit facing the back of the toilet.  I know it sounds weird, but it totally works.  At first I had a friend help me the "normal" way, but then I remembered that suggestion.  Didn't need help the rest of the night.

ETA - I guess that was a little off-topic, sorry.

  • I didn't want a train but it was really hard to find one without!  I was told that it would be 'no big deal' to remove the train and now I'm nervous that I'm hearing it is upwards of $300!?!  I may go with the bustle even though it's not what I want...  I agree that it seems silly to have a train in Vegas but if it's cheaper to bustle I'll save where I can so I can focus on what's important (open bar!)

  • I paid about $300 to hem and have mine bustled. So yes I have a train and I'm bustling it. :) The train isn't very long but there is one lol.

Yeah 300 isn't as bad as I expected and that's to hem all of it as I'm only 5'ft and w/ shoes it'll be 5'4 ....my dress also has 5 layers....

  • I made sure I found a dress with a very small train, luckily it's pretty light weight.  It cost $100 to have it bustled (8 points underneath with ties), and even when it's bustled it isn't too heavy.  I jokingly told my mom I had no problem dragging my train all through Vegas, and she insisted on paying for them to add a bustle lol

It's really up to you and what you're comfortable with!  If it's too heavy bustled and it's going to make you uncomfortable all day, I would remove it!

  • i think any dress being too heavy and hauling it around will be a pain especially in heels.  lol id tell the FI to piggy back me lol
  • I had a train with a bustle and had no problems! I bustled it after my strip tour before the reception.
