Nevada-Las Vegas

Dress

I am getting married in Vegas on 7/11 I have a full length wedding dress. But I am thinking about buying  a short dress to change in to. I can not decide if I want to buy  a short  dress. Here is a pic of my dress. It does not a very good picture. My FH says he's going to wear is tux all night. I am worried about if the dress will be to much for all night. We are getting married at 3:00 in the afternoon I am just stumped at what to do.

Re: Dress

  • If it were me I would just have it bustled and party all night in it especially if my H was going to stay in full tux. But it does come down to your personal level of comfort in your dress. ^^
  • Keep in mind it is going to be HOT!  I had the same struggle earlier in my planning.  Our wedding is 6/24.  I too have a train, which at first I thought about just having chopped off.  To avoid the hastle I opted to get a short dress to change into after our reception, and before hitting the town so I could be more comfortable by a.) not being wicked sweaty, and b.) feeling like I could move freely in such a crowded nighttime place.  FH is wearing a full suit for our ceremony/reception and probably going sans jacket afterward with a vest.

If you are walking around just know it will probably get dirty and ripped.  I knew someone who wore it all night long and after all was said and done it couldn't even be cleaned properly.  What really sucked is she planned to wear the dress at home for a 'reception' type deal :/ oops.

    ETA:  PS it's a goegeous dress! :)

  • I also have SUPER cool wedding shoes so if I get a short dress I still want to wear them

  • I ♥ the shoes!!! Girl, I would wear that dress all night until the break of dawn!!! JMO.
  • We had a 4pm wedding and had the reception venue booked through midnight.  We snuck out around 10pm and came back an hour later, yes probably what you think lol, anyway, my wife changed into a short white cocktail dress and I kept my tux on but no tie and switched to fuzzy slippers because my feet were killing me.  By that time her dress had already broken one of the bustle things and was fairly dirty around the bottom, but she wanted to wear it at least a few hours with as much as she loved that dress, you'll probably feel the same wedding day even if you think you're leaning towards changing now.  Depending on how long your reception is though, you'll probably eventually grow tired of trying to dance and party in it.

  • It never hurts to have a back-up option, IMO.  But you got the wedding dress for that day, I'd personally wear the heck out of it if you love it.  (You could wear the short white dress for your AHR?)

I agree with this.  I have a dress that I'm changing into just because I bought mine before I had another back surgery and it's just too heavy to wear all day :'(  .... Had I not had the surgery I'd definately be wearing it for as long as possible!

Beautiful dress by the way!!! You look fantastic!

  • One, your dress is beautiful!  I just got an after party dress off overstock.  I put my limi at $100 and found one for $95 with free shipping.  I'm going to wear my dress through the reception and when we go out afterwards to a club/lounge I'll wear my little white dress.  I'm just worried about someone spilling something on my gown or it getting really torn.

  • I'm all about rocking your dress as long as possible - I was at the blackjack table in mine until about 3:30AM, it finally just got too uncomfortable to wear any longer.

  • sydneyJBaby Are those Toms???
  • I think with the blazing heat in July you'll definitely want to change and be comfortable.  Just get yourself a cute little dress and enjoy the comfort!  Those shoes will look fab with a short dress!
  • I love your dress and I think you should wear it in the evening if you are going to be mostly indoor (inside casinos, hotels, etc). Congratulations on your wedding!

  • I changed into jeans, t-shirt and flip flops for the afterparty and DH into jeans as well.  I had been in my dress and shoes since we started pictures at 12:30.  10 hours in that dress and shoes was quite enough in my opinion...
