Gifts for Groom

Hi everyone! I am having a hard time figuring out what to give my FI as a gift on our wedding day. I would like it to be somewhat unique. Any input is appreciated. TIA!

Does he smoke? I smoke cigars and I like anything involving carbon fiber so my wife got me a carbon fiber cutter and lighter and some really nice cigars I hadn't tried before.

My FI and I said awhile ago that when I got a ring he could get an ATM sleeve. Lol not sure when he's going to get it but I'm fine with it. Has your FI mentioned something he's wanted? My FI loves golf so I could always do a golf related gift such as a club or membership. What is he into? :)

you don't have too, some people like to. FI and are not, but we are on a tight budget. instead of buying each other gifts we'll treat ourselves to something when were out in LV

as for ideas, i would get him something he likes or has as a hobby. maybe something personalized if it can be. if i were going to buy my FI something, it would be the new p90x coming out soon or something of the sort...but were also strange :P

I'm getting my FI a bleedin' red armadilla grooms cake for the RD. We agreed to no gifts but I can't resist.

We ended up smoking two of the cigars at Mix where we got married; we went back there two nights later for dinner and drinks in the lounge. :-) They wrote out congratulations in chocolate on our plate.

Honestly I would have been happy with just about anything other than a flask; I've got three flasks from being a groomsman; that seems to be the gift that grooms and groomsmen get about 90% of the time lol.

It seems as though everyone gives a flask... that's what I wanted to avoid. We loved Mix when we toured it... it was on our top 3 list of venues, but the Four Seasons won. Looks like they like to give personal service at Mix as well! Glad to see that, it's not often it happens in Vegas... since our second reception and practically everything else is going on at MBay, we plan to go up to Mix at least once to enjoy the food and the view!

I got my fiance a pair of sterling silver cufflinks in the shape of tiny basketballs and a new pair of basketball shoes that he would never buy for himself. Can you tell he is a basketball player, coach, and junkie?

I did a boudoir photoshoot for H and gave him the CD and photobook of the pictures. He LOVED it. I also had so much fun while shooting.

My fiance is getting something he's wanted for a while. He's going to be driving a ferrari and some other sports car around the Las Vegas speedway. I'm so excited to do this for him!! Check out Las Vegas exotic car racing in google and it should pop up. If you're interested I have the info somewhere.

A, if your FI is into that kind of stuff, and with you being in Florida, you may want to have him check out http://www.chinmotorsports.com/ They run a lot of track events in Florida; great bunch of people. I started out driving with them before moving on to racing.

Men are amazingly easy to buy for, as long as you know his friends. Talk to his best friend for an idea- he won't rat on you, and it will be a slam dunk 95% of the time. This is how my Fi gets all my gifts. Because every guy is different.

HA!! I love that you spelled armadillo with an 'a' at the end :)

I am doing that, too, but with a twist. I am from the south so it's customary to have a Groom's Cake, but FI is from the midwest and has no idea! He thinks we are only having cupcakes and one matching 6 in round cake to cut. He loves to fish, so instead of the armadillo I am doing a bleedin' red fish. It was my g-ma's idea since Steel Magnolias is one of her favorite movies.

Where are you getting your armadilla cake made? Albertsons?

OP: Since your FI is a cigar smoker does he own a Humidor? You could get him that and have it monogramed or something, that way he will have it forever.

I like that idea, just want to forewarn anyone who hasn't used a table top humidor before that you should never trust the little analog hygrometers that typically come built into those; I learned the hard way that they can be off by as much as ten to fifteen percent and ruined some really good cigars. Get a digital one that can be calibrated; they're maybe $15 and come with a little plastic bag with a special packet of silica beads. Basically you put the beads in distilled water for a few seconds, throw them and the hygrometer in the bag, 24 hours later it should show 75%, if it doesn't you adjust the dial to get it to 75% and now you can trust the reading down to a percent or two.

yup...albertsons. FI knows I am a huge Steel Magnolias fan and he says that he wishes he could have that cake. The agent we used to find the piano man made all the arrangements for me and is even going to deliver it on the night of the RD. SO excited.

I'm so boring and got DH a watch. I wanted him to have a little bling (it has 4 diamonds) as his band is simple and has no diamonds. I went to the jeweler we bought all our rings from and he helped me find something perfect that fit in my less than $500 budget.

my FI is getting his gift for our 1 year anniversary since he wants a 3k watch and i'm plunking down all of the cash for the wedding and honeymoon.

i think cufflinks are a good idea. as is a watch. and i like the nice cigar stuff ideas too.

I also did the boudoir photos for him and he loves them.... He can't stop starring at them. I would have them done again in a heartbeat ;-)
