Stardust Suite Reception

I did some searching and couldn't find very much info on this site.  I have been in touch with Jay but I was just wondering if there were other brides using the stardust suite in The Orleans for an in suite reception.  I am in love with it and trying to figure out the pros and cons with budgeting it in.  I think overall it would be cheaper to do it in my own at Mandalay Bay but ahh it's so nice!

So..on to my question, past Stardust brides, did you go way over the minimim for food and drinks?  Our budget is pretty close to the minimum so i don't know if it would be worth it if its way over the mimimum ( we will probably have about 50 guests)

I am doing my reception in the Stardust suite in June.  I liked that its really big, not mainstream since I didn't really want the ballroom reception.  I think we will have between 70 and 90 guests. Which will work fine with the food and we may go over a bit but it will be on drinks not more than $500 though, we are doing the consumption bar and the mexican buffet.  Either way it was still cheaper for us to go this route.

Cons, i can see now is that its off the strip so your guests have to get there, we are thinking about getting a couple dd buses but it depends on the final guest count.  I did a room block at the Orleans because some folks may want to stay where the reception is and not worry about getting back to the strip.

Pros, it really comes down to what you want.

I've been working with Debra, she is extra helpful, can't complain.  But really all the vendors i've dealt with, rather its restaurants or other hotels have been very helpful, can't really complain, especially as indecisive as I am.

Thank you for your response Smile  We decided after much debate that we are going to book the stardust suite, it just makes the most sense to us...even if we do go a little over.  Are you getting your wedding cake through them?  Also I bet we can get a good hotel rate there for family and friends if they wanted to stay, I'm going to ask.  If  don't mind me asking, what kind of deposit do you have to give to hold your date?  You can PM me if you don't feel comfortable saying so on here. CongratsLaughing

Thanks EbonyIvory!! I was trying to find my old reviews because I didn't want to write it again. : )

I LOVED the stardust Suite and so did my family and friends. They also really appreciated the cheap rates at Orleans and had fun there. also cheap for guests to eat and drink there and they were still able to enjoy the strip. They have a free shuttle that takes guests to the strip. We used it for our Welcome party with 100 guests and had the Mexican buffet for 40 guests for the rehearsal dinner. Very good. : ) Let us know how it goes. I was just BLOWN AWAY by the size of the rooms. Did they tell you there were giving you ajdoining room too? That thing is HUGE! : ) Have fun! I keep trying to think of something else in my life to get that suite for....hahaha!
