Why did you choose the Vista Suite over Media Suite or vice versa?

We are no longer doing Aria (will write details later)  so now want to do either Vista or Media.

Any input will help, thanks!

Vista for the layout & the size of the bar. I didn't want my party to feel divided if ppl chose to hang out in the "media" room.

What about the L suite at THE Hotel? Anyone use that?

I picked Vista because of the open space/layout, like DV did.  I haven't had my wedding yet, but I think it's a nice option.  I've stayed at THEhotel, and even the basic rooms are fantastic.

i chose the media suite due to the surround sound. Also because of the huge entry way makes a great place for guest book area and or buffet/food tables. The media/theatre area we removed the seating furniture in there and made more sitting in the main room and made the media room our "dance floor" so there was a distinct seating/eating area, bar, food area and seperate bathroom for guests other than the bedroom bathroom (which was huge beyond words).

Kare, how many people did you have in the suite?  Was it crowded?

Also, did you use an iPod for your music, or bring CDs? :)

    Thanks!

I have thought of the media room, and was trying to think how to make the best use of the media room. Making it the dance floor seems like the right idea. We are expecting about 70 people so the media seems like a better choice then the Vista right now.

I chose the media because the vista wasn't available. The layout of the both is cool it really depends on what you are looking to do.

for music we loaded up our itouch and there is a dock in the media room for you  to set the playlist and change songs. Then around the entire suite is speakers. We had 40 people and it wasnt crowded at all. load up the tub with drinks and the bar is plenty big for everything you need to do and store in there. Arranging furniture is the best way to go in there to make it the space you need.
For MRSFRANKLINTOBE, 70people might be a lil too much to accomodate in there. For seating purposes. There definitly wont be enough seating without renting chairs.

We have THE L Suite booked. We're having 50-75 people but we are going to a restaurant for dinner so the suite will just be for cocktails and cake. There's a lot of seating but we don't have to worry about people trying to sit down with a plate of dinner. The suite is 2160 sq ft and gorgeous!

Thanks Kari, I forgot that that room is a lil smaller for that many people.
The L suite is an option, I still have to go look at MB to get planned. Does the L suite have an i-pod deck so that a dj is not needed?

For suite brides, I noticed on the MB website if you have them do the reception, they state no outside vendors. I think this has been discussed before but I want to make sure I ask correctly. Do you let the cordinator know that you are planning an in suite using your own vendors? The line about noise levels worried me too. IF you get 3 complaints you have to send everyone home, which not be cool on my wedding day.

You just don't tell you are having the reception in suite. It's a suite, built for entertaining so that is expected to an extent. I think you'd have to be really really loud to get a noise violation. Brides use it all the time and have people, ipods, Elvis impersonators, and so on without noise complaints.

The L Suite does have an iPod dock and the speakers are throughout the suite in the ceiling.

we had no problems with sound or complaints with music and all. And i for sure had no traditional reception. when all the guest left, our friends stayed around and we popped more bottles and partied it up til the wee hours of the morn

I can just say I love this board!! I would be even more lost in all this planning if it wasn't for the Knotties!!
Now as far as the i-pod doc, can you use an mp3 player or does it need to be an i-pod? Guess what the FI might be getting for Christmas lolCool
