Rethinking Wedding Dress

I am getting married in Juy 2013. I was so excited about purchasing my wedding dress this year, that I bought it in February, which I paid $800 for. Now, I've lost my excitement about the dress and am debating whether or not I should purchased a new one.  Any help?

Re: Rethinking Wedding Dress

  • Why are you rethinking it? What are your doubts and/or wishes a new dress? Do you have a picture? Could it be simply because its been so long ago and you don't remember how you felt in it?
  • Oh no!!.. Well I see this on Say Yes To The Dress all the time.. if its not THE DRESS.. go shopping again.. you have plenty of time.. see if you can exchange it at the place you bought it? Or see if you can sell your dress on craigslist? Do not settle for something you arent 100% excited about

  • Thanks for responding guys.  My wedding dress unfortunately cannot be returned or exchanged since I purchased it on clearance.  I began to change my mind because I saw other dresses that I felt looked so pretty.  At the time, I loved the dress because it was a perfect fit, had beautiful beading at the top and was flattering to my plus size figure. Now, that I see other dresses, I doubt that my dress has the "WOW" factor.

Have you tried it on again? Sometimes the most beatiful dresses dont flatter anyone.. If it fits you and flatters you thats what makes the wow factor... maybe see if you can add some of the details you like from other dresses to it?

  • I would say first look at how you could add to this dress. For example I turned mine into a sweetheart. Others have had appliques sewn on or added sashes. If that still doesn't do it for you I would do whatever isnt going to leave any uneasy feelings regarding the dress or budget. If you absolutely want a new dress, there are consignment shops who will sell your dress and keep a small portion. I'm sure you look beautiful and everything will work out perfectly!
  • i say post a pic and see what we can assist you with and you can add wow factor...
  • The WOW factor is how you feel in the dress... you glow because you've never felt more gorgeous in your life, this gives you self confidence which in turn gives you and everyone else the WOW look. As pp stated, just because a dress looks prettier on one person doesn't mean it looks good on another. I fell 'in love' with a dress online, I specifically went to a store to try it on, guess what...it didn't look as good as I thought it would. Also, there was stuff about it that looked completely different in person than on a picture. Try on YOUR dress again...so how you feel. If you feel like something is missing figure out what is 'attracting' you in other dresses and see if you could add those things to yours!
  • Guys, thank you soooo much! I already feel much better about my dress.  Also, I didn't even think about adding details to my dress.  I haven't purchased a veil yet, so I'm sure the veil, plus accessories will bring it out even more. Thank you so much for the tips. This is my first time posting on this site and I'm so glad that I sought out advice. I will post pics. later this evening!
  • A veil will make a huge difference for sure. Do as much or as little to your dress as you'd like its yours and you paid for it...so go crazy. Even if we all tell you you look stunning, its all about how you feel. This board is great so any concern you have, stay here Vegas related or not...these girls and groom here are all about having fun and being respectful...we all just want everyone to have a perfect day!
  • I agree, if you aren't IN LOVE with it go out and look around. You still have quite a while. Where did you get it from? If from David's Bridal you can always exchange it as long as it's the same price or more. I ended up doing that with my dress actually.

I went and got my dress before we announced the wedding to anyone and my mom didn't like that so we went back just to try on dresses and I ended up falling in love with the original one I wanted but knew we wouldn't be able to afford but that's when my mom stepped in.

Get something you LOVE and that makes you feel AMAZING!! :)
  • jazz it up veil accessories heels
  • I think take some time. Posting a pic is definitely a good idea! I agree with previous posts that it depends on how well the dress fits YOU that will make it WOW or not. In either case - it's still a long time til your wedding, so definitely don't go and buy another one straight away; you could easily change your mind again! I recommend stop looking at other dresses for a while.

  • I think if it fits you and it feels great to wear that is the most important part.  The most beautiful looking dress won't make you look beautiful if it doesn't fit right.

I would say to be on the lookout for something you like that fits you even better, but don't give it up just because you see other dress designs you like on the rack.

But honestly if you like how it flatters now, I bet you're going to love it even more when you've got your make-up/hair done up and all your accessories on with it.
