Help! How can I make a grand entrance with a very long aisle?

Hi all,

I'm getting married next July at The Shawnee Inn in the Poconos, PA. We're having an outdoor ceremony, and I'll be walking down the aisle from the side of the Inn. It is a pretty far walk (I'm talking almost 1/4 a mile!) because the whole North Lawn is a giant open area overlooking the Delaware River.

The location is beautiful and perfect, but I hate that my walk down the aisle is not a special moment, as opposed to opening a set of doors and all the guests (and my fiance) seeing me at that moment. People will see me walking from a distance, with me gradually getting closer and closer. This is not as special as I have envisioned in my head.

Does any one have any ideas on how to make a grand or surprise entrance without having a place to walk in from? Any ideas would be appreciated!!

You could have a vehicle drive you up if they'd let you drive it on the lawn.

I like the idea of a car, carriage, or even a golf cart. I wouldn't want to walk a 1/4 mile outdoors in my wedding gown.

Yikes!  I thought my walk was long!  (I google earthed my path after reading your post!  ha Mine is only 330').  I think in your case, you should see if a cart could drop you off.  I couldn't imagine walking in heels for 1/4 of a mile while all eyes are on you.

Ask the venue what other girls have done.  You're not the first one to get married there and I'm sure you're not the first one with this concern.
