Reception Question

If you are having your reception at a restaurant, how is the reception going to be set up?  Will it be a room set up with a long table and your guests sit where they want or will it be table arrangements with a head table?  I know if you have it a Maggianos it will be set up more like a traditional reception (round tables & head table).

The FI and I are thinking of a restaurant reception.  We are not sure on where yet; I’m still doing research.  Since I am so far out in planning I thought I’d ask those of you who are months from getting married on how your reception is being done.  :-D

Thank you in advance,

Ours is at Maggianos so we will have rounds with a sweetheart table. Also the tables are arranged so we have a large dance floor. We will be having "escort cards" but not place cards since we have a mostly young guests and then very old guests (lol) but we definitely don't want those two mixing.

I asked Maggianos early on if they could have different table arrangement such as long ones, but they said that is not and option for my rooms.

We're doing our reception at Mix at MB.  We're going to utilize one of their two person booths along the front wall for a sweetheart table.  Directly in front of it will be a large head table that will seat the entire wedding party and their S/O's.  We're going to do assigned tables (not seats) for everyone else.

Depends on the restuarants flexibility. Most places in Las Vegas are pretty cookie cutter since they are not a banquet hall. The best thing you can do is narrow it down to three choices and call their catering manager to see if you can "Have it your way :)"

We don't want the traditional banquet hall.  We want it to be more relaxed and not so formal.  I like Lawrys and Trevi so far.  I want to make sure I have the reception at a great place with great food.

If anyone has an experience they can share I'd love to hear it.  Smile

I definitely recommend looking into Little Buddha in the Palms - gorgeous Asian fusion menu, amazing cocktail list and the prices are better than what we found on-Strip.

We are having 30 people, and the table layouts are two long surfboard-shaped tables in a T-shape, with 8 people along each side. We will be sitting in the centre of the T part of the tables, so we have guests alongside us and can also see right down the other table. Bit of an odd set-up but I quite like it, and that is how they seat groups.

We are not doing escort cards but we do have assigned seating, with the menus at each place setting doubling up as place names.

We had our reception at China Grill at MB.  We used the lounge for cocktail hour and then transitioned into the dining room for dinner.  We used one of the booths for a sweethart table, one for our cake, and seated guests at the others.  We had assigned seating with tables of 4(booths)-8(rounds) in a kind of moon shape in the dining room that followed the light fixture in the middle of the room and allowed everyone to see eachother.  We also put all our family at one long table.  We used the private dining room for our first dance and then transitioned back into the lounge for dancing.
