None of the strip resorts required that; we looked at ten or so restaurants and some private ball rooms, etc.  I own several businesses and we have to carry liability insurance on all of our property, with pretty huge limits on areas the public may encounter since people can slip and fall and sue you, etc.  I'm not sure why any venue would not have that already.

Ditto VG. None of the venues I looked at had insurance required. You should be the one to ask them if they have that in the event something happens at your wedding. Which venue is it?

I have heard of venues requiring the vendors you may use show proof of their own insurance, but not the person actually contracting the venue. As Vegas said, normally the venue has its own liability insurance for their property.

Contact the Palms and ask them to suggest a company. I am sure you are not the only people who live out of the US to have a party there, so Palms should know who provided insurance for the other events.
Its not passing the responsibilty on to me, they have their own insurance aswell. If you look up event insurance in theknot forums you can see that it is normal to request this.
    Posted by rachandmat
It's not common among Vegas venues (as you can see in the above posts), in fact this is the first I've heard of it. i mean passing the responsibility onto you as in you have to find it, they don't just take care of it with theirs.

whatevs, I hope you are able to find what you need.

I've never heard of having your own event insurance unless you are completely renting out a location and they provide no services to you.  If you are bringing in your own food, booze, entertainment, etc. to a venue that you have rented, I could see it then.  However, if the night club is providing services, they should cover the insurance.  I have heard of this if you are renting a hall or something.  The club is requiring that you supply everything?

I don't get how your friends and family will figure out the venue, for one.  Two, I don't know why it matters.  Three, deleting posts IS lame.  Finally, if you decided to hang around here, you'd realize there are actually nice people and valuable conversations where you can participate.  However, since we're all bitter, rude women (and man) with no lives...
