Sad/Stressed/Venting/Stupid arguement

My dad's uncle is ill, and he might even pass before the wedding. It's extremely sad, and I hope for my dad's sake he can hold out until after the wedding (he won't be coming to the wedding no matter what) because he is like a second father to my dad and I don't want my dad to feel sad on that day! (My dad came to the US when he was 16 and lived with his uncle through high school/college).

Today he told me that it is tradition in Iran that when a family member passes, weddings are cancelled. So there's a chance that some of our family members may not come at the last minute. This man is so kind though- he has said it is his wish that no one follows this "stupid tradition" (his words) and everyone still celebrate as planned.

On an unrelated note, FI and I had our first sort of major wedding arguement this weekend. We argued about whether or not their should be music playing while we are cutting the cake. .... Seriously. We are both in cuckoo land.

Fortunately, we leave in 3 weeks exactly, and once we're in Vegas it is party time.

Anyone else care to share a truly ridiculous wedding arguement?

Fi and I argued about having a third entree choice on the buffet.....I wanted salmon and he didn't and his reason was because "the Scottish guests eat good salmon all the time and they won't like it"..............I was WTF? Are you planning on asking all 24 of them whether or not they liked the American salmon after they eat it?

And I said "well the 30 American guests might like it". The end result, we're having Salmon, lol! Ridiculous argument.

Also, i'm sad for your family situation. That is extremely stressful, and very sad for your dad.

N, I'm so sorry to hear about your Great Uncle.  I hope he stays strong so you can see him as a married lady   I'm sending him (and your fam) positive thoughts.

Your tiff with FI seems very normal.... seemingly large arguments over silly things.  The stress is overwhelming for even the best couples!

We've only had one mini-argument so far, and it was because I assigned photography to FI.  (He saw how much stuff I was doing and wanted to help with something.)  He procrastinated and Todd was booked (thanks to fellow knottie, L! ).  It worked out because now we have Mike L/Courtney, but it caused me some stress for about a week.

as far as the fight with your FI, its very normal. H & I got in a few stupid wedding fights before the big day. H wanted to go the cheapest route possible for everything so budget was always an issue for us....

No wedding fights here...just packing fights! Yes I really do need 5 pairs of shoes, 6 bras and 3 swimsuits!

Sorry to hear about your family situation, that is sad & stressfull for veryone i'm sure. My FI & I have had a couple stupid arguments about wedding stuff, stupidest one being what font to use on the cards we are putting in favor bags asking guests to share their pics with us on our photo website.

I'm sorry to hear that!  I hope that everyone takes heed and doesn't cancel on you guys.  Although I get how people get caught up in cultural traditions.  Over here if someone in your family passes away it means you can't send out New Years greetings (like Christmas cards in the States) and you have to make a special announcement for being in mourning that year so people don't send you cards either.

I had a dumb argument with FI about teeth whitening the other day.  He was harping on me about how it wasn't worth the money since my teeth aren't really straight to begin with, but despite that I at least wanted to have whiter teeth for our photos.  Eventually we compromised that I would do it and he could do as he pleased.
