Vent: Stripburger is Changing the Rules on me...new dinner venue??

Sooooo, as soon as I found out StripBurger would allow me to create my own menu at menu prices (with of course the servicetax, fees etc) I was sold.  The set menu isn't outrageous or anything but when you break it down it's not worth 22/pp especially since we're doing cake and won't need the brownie dessert.  Anyways, I was working with once person and now I have a new one.  She let me know after I mentioned wondering how it will be set up on the patio that there are rooms at El Segundo Sol next door that can accomidate my guests and stripburger food can be served there.  WONDERFUL!  I have wanted a room and thought the only one was for 32 people and we are inviting more so the plan with first person contact was to wait til march (response date) and if its 32 or less go with the room (assuming it's available).
I jump at the opportuntiy to be in a private room.  But her response was 'with that number of people you have to do the set menu'.  WAIT. From day one I have said the possibilty of 50 and my own menu was allowed.  Even in he smaler 32 person room.  If she'd said 'in that room you must choose the set menu' I'd get it.  But saying it's the number of people annoys me since it's always been that number.  I have to approve my proof for invitations and now she hasn't responded (I just replied with basically what I said up there but nicer :)). ARG.

Soooooo, one of the huge reasons I went with Stripburger was the price with sharing apps, a burger and some beers it averaged out to like $17/pp from our own made menu (plus taxes and such).  Anywhere you can think of that has options that won't make me use a set menu with up to 50? I didn't find any last year other than StripBurger but stopped looking.

  • Is staying on the strip a must?

I can recommend a Tapas place called Marbella next to the Palms. It's in a strip mall but it's really good - and they have a private room.

Also off-strip and our new favorite casual restaurant is Bacchi Burger. Their regular menu is really reasonably priced. The one in Summerlin has an area with a wall for semi-privacy.

Noras is inexpensive but excellent. Also off-strip but they have a private room too. Their group lunch menu starts at $12pp and dinner at $22 last time I looked.

Burgr just opened in Paris and has been packed since day one. Not sure what their menu prices are like.
  • Thank you!  I will start googling and contacting.  I'd love to stay on strip to avoid trying to get all guests to the location maybe downtown would work too...I just feel like if it's a vegas wedding we should stay on the strip.  I dunno.. I'm hoping it's a huge misunderstanding but I won't know until she responses.

  • The buffet at M is about $17 pp and includes beer and wine.

Grimaldis might be within your budget. One pie can feed 2-3 people and the salad is awesome.

Thinking about other options for you!

  • Thank you!!  I looked and Studio B prices seemed to have risen since i started planning a year ago.  I think it was like 30 for dinner.  With transportation that I'd have to do that's a bit too much.  I'll look into grimaldis. :)

  • Ok so found my contract.  It 100% say we set our own menu with 50 guests.  But it does say we'll need menu choices before hand if there are 50 guests.  Yikes!  We discussed cutting the menu down to 3 options and no subs and guest order on the day of.  If we have to have orders before hand I'll have to change around my response card and do seating chart.  At least the contract clearly states our own menu for 50 guests.

  • Glad to hear you found the contact!! I was going to say that if you still wanted burgers, I've heard that I Heart Burgers at the Venetian are good. I inquired with them at one time for a casual wedding dinner or some other wedding typing gathering and they seemed flexible. They couldn't quote me really without selecting items for our group's menu but as I said seemed flexible and reasonable and can hold large groups well over 50 people like 250. If you want the guy's contact info, let me know... Best of luck!
  • Oh no! I hate to hear this. I know how thrilled you were to use SB.  Shame on them! I know you will find something to make your heart smile just as much as SB.

  • Thank you!  I would love I heart Burgers info.  I'm still hoping se misunderstood.  Now that I have the contract and even emails from her from months ago about our own menu and 50 guests I think it'll be ok.  But I keep having to wait for her to respond. Fingers crossed I don't have to search for a new location. I can't approve my wedding invites until I know for sure BLEH!

  • I hope it all goes well too! I know you've been planning it at SB for some time... Ill be crossing my fingers. Keep us posted. In case you needed it, the most recent contact I have at I Heart Burgers is Kelly.Haightiloveburgers.com. She is one of the managers who emailed me last as of November.

Hate using the phone. There is an at symbol between her last name Haight and iheartburgers.com
  • TY! The person at StripBurger seems to take forever to respond.  UGH.

  • Update: after a lot of back and forth emails and waiting for responses all is well.  I can pay for the items ordered at the end of the night from our preselected menu rather than per person.  Yay!!!  Now still waiting for an answer on if, for 50 people, I'd need ordered prior to the night.  If so I'll need to add it to my response cards and do a seating chart :/ but that's ok.  I'm just glad I don't have to go with their menu at the per person cost.

  • Hopefully it works out for you. I was thinking of using SB too because of their pricing but if your having trouble with them, that worries me!
