I don't even... (a common vent)

We sent out the invitations two weeks ago and we did the whole, "Ante up; all in or fold" and we've gotten about 8 people call me to ask what it meant... same with the "M" for "Mr. or Mrs" when putting their name. I GUESS it was forward of me to assume they would get "the card terms", but if I got an invitation that said something I didn't understand, I would google it before calling the bride. Not to mention how hard is figuring out which means which when you really think about it? I don't know, I can sort of hear how bitchy I'm being about this and I didn't even hint my annoyance to anyone who asked, but really. I had to get it out.
Not even mentioning that half of who called to ask about it haven't even sent them back, but whatever, there are still weeks till we asked for them back. SIGH Any one else have problems with this wording? or would like to rant about how FRUSTRATING the whole invitations aspect of this is?

Re: I don't even... (a common vent)

• I love the all in/fold..!!!! I worded our rsvps like this though: "YES! we're all in!"    and    "No. Sorry, we fold."

Hopefully you wont have too many more clarification phone calls... hello guests! one option = yes and other = no! :)

Besides that though, how are your numbers looking? Hope your guests are "All in!" :)
• hmm maybe we should've added the, "yes" and "no,"  but I figured it'd be easy enough to figure out! ha ha. my bad
Oh numbers are looking great.. even some guest we didn't invite are being added in :D..... the more the merrier, right?.
• I did the "all in or fold" My fiance's cousin, who works at a casino (blackjack dealer), texts me... Her: do you need me to send in the RSVP card? Me: That would be nice. We like to receive them in the mail Her : what does all in or fold? Like seriously, think about it....all in ( that sounds like a yes). Fold must mean the other answer which is...(no).
• WOW!  We that saying to and everyone understood....And we didn't include a yes and no...

• Yeah I did the same things on my reply cards! I'm worried about it but FI insisted it be like that and that everyone will get it. I hope so because I don't want to deal with people calling me to ask stupid questions lol
• I'm similarly worried, but mainly because I didn't lay ours out very clearly... now that I think about it.

We did:

M________
M________
____ will attend _____ will not attend

So for the couples where only one person is attending, I'm curious to see what people do.  Put arrows to their responses?  Who knows.

I'll just be happy when people actually send them back :)  I've gotten a few "well, you know we're coming, right?".   Yell
• Nothing bugs me more than people who ignore the two M_____ lines and just check off yes at the bottom and send the card back.  I mean really?  Are we supposed to determine who you are through magical powers?  Fortunately we put small codes on the back of all of them so we could match the cards back up because I spent enough time on here to know that everyone has people who will do that so we were able to figure it out but how long does it really take to write your name out?

• Oh dear....I hope you don't get too many more phone calls.  You would think they should know what that means.

Here's one for you guys....
I have the M_______ on our RSVPs.  One of our friends, who is a PhD (not a medical doctor), crossed out the M and wrote Dr.

• Ha ha this made me feel better! I though MAYBE I was being bratty getting so annoyed about this, but as usual, you guys made me feel normal Thanks :)
• Shoot I didn't know about the code idea! So far everyone has written their name. I haven't even got half of the rsvps back and the deadline is march 9th. I don't think its my address issue because I have gotten at least 1 or 2 everyday.
• OMG I loved the "all in/fold" option but FI was afraid that people wouldn't understand it.  WAKE UP PEOPLE, IT"S VEGAS.

LOL @ PhD crossing out and adding Dr. - wow, that takes some [email protected]

• We did our like nycheryl and vegasgroom. There were 2 No responses without a name or return address or anything.  And 1 yes response without a name but with food selections.

I'm pretty sure that invitations are the number one vent / rant posts on here.

We did the number coding, too.  At least we'll know who to call if they don't put their names down ;)

Another whine... if there's already a stamp on it, and you've already booked your trip, why not just throw it in the mail right away?  No need to wait.

Holy Dr. I'm-Full-of-Myself.  And I thought the people who put BOTH Dr. and Ph.D. (ex: Dr. SportsBear, Ph.D.) were pompous and/or dumb because it always reminded me of that scene in Spies Like Us! (Doctor, Doctor).

I don't use my Ph.D. credentials most of the time and anyone who does that on an RSVP seems to take themselves WAY too seriously.  Wow.  I get that we earned those extra initials, but dude, seriously, lighten the hell up.

Ugh I haven't even ordered my invitations yet, too stressful!  I hope the rest of your guests get it though, it doesn't seem too complicated! lol

We were going to use "all in/fold", so I'm guessing I should put yes or no before them, to avoid the phone calls!
In Response to Re: I don't even... (a common vent) : You're kidding me. People actually do that? I'm so glad I read this. I'm going to use your code number trick. :)
Posted by burntofferings
The reason I coded it instead of just numbering them is because I didn't want people with a high number to think they were on a B list or otherwise not as important as a low number person or something. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />   I guess you could accomplish the same thing by just using random large numbers, 1056, 2032, etc.

My wife did that; she was a BM in a wedding of a childhood friend of hers whose fiance is in residency just like my wife, so her and her friend's fiance are both MD's, but this friend continually hand-addressed anything coming to her as Mrs while not overlooking ensuring everything was hand-addressed as coming from Dr & Mrs, so she obviously understands the difference and was writing it out herself, but just chose to keep using Mrs...   wedding day, the table card had Dr. :-)

Coming from anyone else, this would never bother me, but this guy is the most arrogant person I've ever met.  He's now hassling us about the type of room in our room block and wants us to get him a free upgrade to a suite.
