For Those Of You Married In A Vista Suite...

Did you tell the hotel you were having a special even when you booked the suite or no? I'm debating on wether or not to tell them...
I don't want them to stop me when the day actually comes.

Hey, I booked with them and told them it was for a wedding reception. Its better because then they would know its for a special event. I spoke to the wedding coordinator from the chapel and she noted it in the booking. So I would tell them just to ensure they keep that suite for you.

Good to know. I might just say that I'm having a special event. I probably won't mention anything about a wedding.

Yeah I'd lean towards just telling them it's for an 'event' if you're not booking the room through a wedding coordinator from MB since if they know it's a reception and you're not booking their catering, booze, etc. they know they're getting cut out.

Yeah. I just need to make sure they don't demote us to a smaller room, that's all. I didn't want to cut them out, but they're prices were just too much so we had to figure out another plan.

I just had my wedding reception in a Vista Suite on 9-10-11.  After reading these boards I called to make sure my room wouldnt be given away.  I DID tell them it was for my wedding and they made a note in the computer.  We came to Vegas from San Diego the Thursday before the wedding and my family was going to stay at Mandalay Bay the whole weeked (we went cheaper the other days) and when they checked in they were told the hotel was over booked for the whole weekend and were moved to the MGM.  I called to see if my Saturday booking for the Vista Suite was going to be a problem and they said no it was fine and that they see on the computer that it was for a wedding.  Checking in Saturday was fine and we ended up with on of the rooms with the wonderful strip view.  The room was great and nobody seemed to care that we had the valets bring up TONS of beer and alcohol.

i too came from SD on thursday for my 9-10-11 wedding too :)

As for letting MB know it is for a recpetion, i would tell them. i was booked in a Vista Suite for Fri. and Sat. the hotel was over booked, we were upgraded to a better bigger suite @ The Hotel, probably bc they knew it was for a reception.
MB was very good about everything for the reception, we ran out of plates and i had to call and have 20 more brought up and they brought a roll of large trash bags too to the room and it was no problem

I'm just hesitant to tell them it's for a reception because i'm not using their catering.
I'm going to be booking it this weekend, so we'll see what happens.

The mandaly bay is literally the ONLY hotel with a suite available on a weekend that we can afford. If they're all booked before i can book it this weekend, i'm screwed.

    Oh... Cool.
Did they charge you for the plates?

It`s nice to know that someone used MP and told the hotel it was for a reception and there was no problem.

We`re going to be using MP as well! What did you think of their food?

I didnt get a chance to eat any of it, but everyone thought it was very good. My Maid of honor said it was the best food she had all weekend.

MB said they was gonna be a charge for the plates to be brought up, but i never saw a charge for them.
i would suggest bringing some extra plates and napkins. im not sure how many MP brings for your party.
