Nevada-Las Vegas

Paradise, NV? Who knew!

So I was doing research for my table 'names' (vegas landmarks, see PP)...and I discovered that most hotels on the strip are actually in PARADISE, NV not the actual city of Las Vegas!  Maybe some of you knew this but I definitely did not and thought it's interesting.  I'm sure if I put 'Paradise' on the invitations though people would have a lot of questions and I don't t want to have to explain the whole Paradise thing over and over....fun fact for the day!

Yeah, it's a really weird thing (at least for me) about how Vegas is set up.

The actual City of Las Vegas is very small, about the area of Downtown and the northern part of The Strip.  The rest of what people think of as "Las Vegas" are small townships that considered part of Clark County.  Paradise is probably the largest, my mom lives in Sunrise Manor, there's also Spring Valley and Winchester.

Probably when the valley started growing so much, the Postal Service just said "Heck with it, it's all Vegas!"

Ya, I heard that when I was in Vegas (or Paradise) in Oct. I felt totally deceived! Lol After all that talk yesterday about table numbers/names, I'm thinking I should have something. I wasn't doing anything for my tables because we're going to a restaurant for dinner and then back to our suite for drinks. Do you think I should be decorating my tables?

Depends what 'decorating' means.  We are only have a dinner as well (well Travis Allen-Elvis is coming but I don't think that makes it a 'reception), but I am brining in some decor...for ex: the table names/landmarks, fun facts sheets (DIY) to read on the table (like paradise), personalized napkins, maybe some confetti....something just to 'spice up' the tables a little bit.  some people may think confetti is cheap but I love it! i always put confetti on tables for birthdays & girls nights...

We're going to have paper bag lanterns on the beach for our ceremony, so I was just going to make a few mini ones for the tables. I love your fun facts idea. Would you mind sharing what you come up with? Oh ya, our favors will also be in the tables. I'm not sure how many tables we're going to have and I'm not sure if they'd be able to give me a definite answer. I'll have to get in touch with group dining and ask.

Sure, do you want me to email or PM them to you, or post here? I have them  in a word doc but can copy/paste them in an email.  There's a lot lol, some of them maybe not appropriate because their refer to prisons, divorce, etc. lol, but some of them are pretty interesting or funny!

Where is your reception/dinner at if you don't mind me asking?

Most major metropolitan areas are like that, especially desert cities.  I tell people that I grew up in Phoenix, because they know where that is and have never heard of Mesa.  Los Angeles itself isn't really all that large, but when people think of LA, they're thinking of the massive urban sprawl that actually covers about five counties.  Same deal.

Our Dinner is at Trevi Italian at the Shops at Caesars Forum.
For an after party we're going to Cleopatra's Barge in Caesars (we think).
     I'll send it rite now!

Aerin was your address in Phoenix though? I've heard of Mesa. Because all the major hotels addresses are Las Vegas. Does anyone actually have an address as Paradise, Nv?

Yeah, I actually lived in Mesa.  But the whole area is generally referred to as Phoenix, whether it's actually Chandler, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert...  I know Mandalay Bay's address on their website shows up as Las Vegas and not Paradise, so I'm not really sure what the boundaries are there.

Yeah even tho the central 'Strip' is actually in Paradise, I think all the hotels use 'las vegas' so people don't get confused.  I know when I googles Caesars Palace in Paradise, the LV address came up.
