Some ?'s - I'm starting to panic.

With 9 days to go, I'm starting to panic about what seems to be EVERYTHING... I didn't want a wedding, i wanted to elope so I didn't have to deal with all of this...

I'm worried about the timeline, and making sure everyone knows what time they should be and where...I'm also so concerned about making sure everyone enjoys themselves and AHHHH i'm just sooo stressed. Anyways if anyone can help me with the following questions - I would be very thankful!

1. For those of you who carried your dress on the plane, when you went through security did you put your dress on the conveyor belt? If so how did you do it, just lay it on there, put some bins under it? Stupid question but I don't want to look like idiot going through security...

2. For group and family pictures (there will be 27 of us), I was originally planning on the Bellagio. But now I'm thinking somewhere closer to NYNY would probably be better as most of our guests are staying on the south end of the strip. Any suggestions?

-If no suggestions, does anyone know if our limos can pick us up at the Bellagio if we aren't staying there...And if so where do they pick up at?

3. Also group/family pictures, anyone have any idea of about how long they took? I'm currently planning for 30 - 45 minutes. Too long, too short?

I'm also planning on calling the limo people to ask this question too but thought I'd check here first... Same with the photos - i'm going to be calling to discuss this but want to know my options before I do so.

Thanks again for any suggestions/help!

Re: Some ?'s - I'm starting to panic.

  • I will throw in that the picture time (30-45) may be doable but it definitely would not have been for us...we had a fairly large party and family but that time goes by so quick when you have to pose and repose and take new pictures if someone doesnt look right, etc. I would allot a little more time for that...in my opinion :)

If you want to stay on the south end of the strip...Mandalay Bay has some nice places to take photos...but I may be biased Wink

My wife took hers on the plane. It was tightly bundled and double bagged, on a hanger. She did not put it on bins, she just fed it in as the conveyor belt moved and it went through fine. She didn't fold it at all though, we bought an extra seat on Southwest for it since there was no guarantee there would be room in an overhead bin; it was a fairly large dress.

You can have a limo come through the limo pickup area whether you're staying there or not; they won't care. If you're going to block traffic for a while you can throw a tip at the attendent. I can't think of anything particulary attractive on the strip for photos around NYNY other than Bellagio to the north or Mandalay to the south (you can take photos in the valley of the falls area if no wedding is occurring). There's always the Vegas sign further south. If you have enough transportation for everyone, I'd stick to the Bellagio plan.

We had 4+4 in our wedding party, the various posed pics after the ceremony with all the party, parents, grand parents, others that wanted a pic, etc, probably took about 25 minutes. We went to take pics all around Mandalay with just the photographers afterward and that took about an hour.

Married in Vegas - June 2011

  • Thanks ladies and VG! I should have been a little more specific for the family/group pictures... It will just be the family shots, you know bride, with family, groom with family, bride and groom with brides familly and visa versa... I have a list. And then I'd like a group shot of everyone who makes it for picutres, friends and families. This will not be the bridal party shots. We are doing that before our families get together.

Also VG: Do you know where the limo would pick up at? I don't want to look like a lost dog trying to find where its at? I've heard some places are behind the hotels.... Also what do you think would be a good spot at the Bellagio - fountains, gardends?

One other question: about how long does it take on a Saturday afternoon to get from the Bellagio to Graceland? Not concerned about staying on the strip - because I know sometimes they will take back roads. Looking at a map its not that far but I'm not sure if the 45 minutes I've got alloted is too much or too litte....

  • I can answer the Bellagio cab question! Haha...

If you know where the main lobby is (with the beautiful glass flowers on the ceiling), that's where the cabs come. It's in front of the building, on the southeast corner. If you look at this overhead photo, you can see where the road curves around at the bottom of the fountains:

Courtney (one of our photogs/Mike L's wife) told me, regarding my timeline, "it's always better to plan a little extra time than not enough". Try to buffer your timelines a bit because it may take longer to walk somewhere, you may need to get another shot because someone keeps sneezing, etc...

Deep breaths! Your day is going to be AWESOME!!!
  • Thank you Cheryl! ... I'm starting to feel better it's just that all these little things are starting to nag at me. And I'm leaving Sunday and starting to just worry a little bit. To be completely honest I really don't care how things go as long as I look pretty and that we get married :)

I TOTALLY understand :) I'm sure it'll be awesome! I'll pray for cold, crappy weather here so you feel even better about being out there :)
