Can't decide offbeat ceremony location-Minus 5 Ice bar or Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay

So fiance, his two kids and myself will be surprise eloping to Vegas next August (surprise for kids). We have been ready to book the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay because of the unique and cool setting-plus it will only be the four of us. However, in looking at their website, I saw that they now do weddings at Minus 5 ice bar. Minus 5 has significance for the two of us because we went to Vegas in January 2010 and I was thinking of breaking up with him when we got home. (Long story as to why but I was just confused as to where we were, his goals in life, etc). Anyway, we went to Minus 5 one night and had a heart to heart talk about life, goals, etc that started at Minus 5. (We both remember the conversation we had on the ice couch -pretty remarkable for a guy) We both distinctly remember that night as a turning point in our relationship. Plus when we started discussing a Vegas wedding, FI was bummed that his kids wouldn't get to experience Minus 5 since they are not old enough to drink. They would however be allowed to attend a ceremony there though. So now which place should we pick as a unique ceremony location? We want a fun place for us and the kids and love the uniqueness of both. Love to hear opinions!!!

Both are really cool, but I've never heard of anyone getting married at Minus 5 so that seems doubly neat to me.  Bonus points because it seems like it has some kind of significance to both of you, and you're right, I think the kids would dig the experience.  Either way, can't go wrong...let us know what you decide!

LOL I had no idea -5 was doing ceremonies.  I've been there a few times just for drinks out in the non-frozen part.  I wanted to go in but was always with a group and not everyone wanted to fork over the money for 20 minutes in a freezer.  Is the inside part well lit enough so you can get good pics?

I vote the ice bar! You can take the kids to the aquarium another day!

Thanks everyone-I still haven't decided but FI and I are trying to decide this week. Yep, lovesblingbling and vegasgroom, the Minus 5 ceremony is on Mandalay Bay's website. I did e-mail for a bit more info but there are actually two ceremony options for it.

I totally agree Gribbles that the ice bar is awesome-and the kids (ages 11 and 18 then) will totally get a kick out of it. Especially the 11 year old because we will have to see about getting her a cute white fur coat. She loved her black one we bought her to wear to Mary Poppins musical last Christmas. She thought she was "fancy" in her coat!

Thanks lsven-it would be cool to get married there. It was a fun place-what I remember from it and the uniqueness is part of the Vegas experience.

    Vegasgroom, good point about lighting.

    Hmmmm decisions decisions..........

This is what I was thinking too! The kids will have fun going there another day.

I love the idea of choosing a venue with some sentimental significance... hence why my FI and I are getting married at the House of Blues (it was there that he told me for the first time that he wanted to marry me... the ring and formal proposal followed a few months later).
