AHR Help!

We're planning on doing a AHR, but I'm not sure how it works.

Obviously, we're not going to invite people who weren't invited to the wedding - it's going to be for people who were invited to the wedding but can't make it.

How did you girls invite people? Did you invite everyone that was invited to the Vegas wedding? And then did people who went to the Vegas one show up for the AHR too? I'm just thinking budget - we can either do a catered dinner if it's a smaller amount, or do a general bbq/hot dog thing if it's going to be a larger amount.

And if you had a AHR, did you do a gift registry? I know some may want to get us a gift, since a few have already asked.

Help!

We are doing a AHR.  We are actually inviting all the people that were invited to Vegas plus people who were not.  Most people understand that we can't invite 200 + people from Indiana to go to our wedding in Vegas... so they are more then happy to come to our reception.  Our AHR will be traditional with the exception of that we are doing finger foods/appetizers versus a whole meal.  We will have music/dancing, cake, toasts, etc.  The reception won't start until 6, so we will make note of the appetizers on the invite so people know to eat before hand or that it will only be appetizers.

We are doing a gift registry.  We are doing 2 right now... one for our honeymoon and the other at a store.

    Hope that helps??? :)

I'm doing almost the same thing as bcschuman - bigger reception at home (only family and wedding party in Las Vegas)... and a "traditional" reception at home (cake, garter, bouquet...etc).
We are also doing finger foods/apps as opposed to a sit-down dinner ("cocktail" reception - starts at 7:00 or 7:30pm) - more of a "big party" feel than formal - though, YES, I will be wearing my dress again (& my groom his suit) - and all the wedding party will be in their garb as well.

We will also be registering at a couple of stores.

Diddo this.  I think that's understandable for a DW & AHR!  Our AHR is going to be pretty casual (esp compared to our actual wedding) but are still having the traditional reception elements, cake cutting, first dance, etc.  We won't have either at our LV reception anyways so it will be nice to actually be able to have those at home! and YES we definitely did a gift registry!
