Nevada-Las Vegas

Oh boy... just decided to move out-of-state...

My fiance and I just decided that we are going to move from Los Angeles to Ann Arbor, Michigan... next month!  He is from Michigan originally, and we decided that since we both work from home we don't really need to be living in Los Angeles... which is so expensive.

Talk about throwing a curveball in our wedding plans.  Las Vegas will still happen, but now I will have to think about shipping things and flying to Las Vegas, instead of the easy drive we were going to have (and a car to carry everything in). I will have to look up all the knottie's tips on flying with the wedding dress or shipping to someone to have it steamed (I know I read about this, but I had kind of skimmed over it, not thinking I would need it).

Wheww... I am still reeling over this decision, even though I know it is the right choice.  I had been slacking on my wedding plans, but now I feel like I have to get going on everything.  Las Vegas will be even more special now, since it will be a true "destination wedding" for us.

Wow! Good for you two. I know we dont know each other but I'm in LA, so if there is anything I can do to help I'm happy to help a fellow Knottie!

You'll be just a half an hour from me (I'm right over the border in Ohio)! It may seem daunting, but getting everything out to Vegas isn't nearly as bad as it seems---including the wedding dress! Let us know if you have any specific questions!

I feel your pain, we are relocating to Indianapolis in 2mos.  To help complicate things we have 3 girls and a whole house to move.  Thank goodness we sold it to family!  It also doesn't help that my dress & TA are here!  It's def going to make things more complicated especially since we are getting married in Sept and school will have already started, but since our family is here our middle daughter is going to have to miss 9 days of school so they can watch her while we are on our honeymoon!  Like you though, it is def the best thing for our family!  I'm sure your wedding will still be awesome!  Good luck to you!

Side note:  Rach, I am soooo slow just noticed you are from Toledo too!  I am actually in Oregon, but close enough!

congrats on your move! It will all work out. : )

I live in sherman Oaks outside LA and was from Warren, MI pretty close to Ann Arbor! I sometimes really want to move back because there are such great people there! Also all of my friends are able to buy gorgeous houses for the same price I'm paying to rent my little apartment! It's nuts! I would probably move too if I weren't an actress. : )

    Good luck!

Hi, Susan!  I moved from L.A. to the Midwest (Chicago) too.  You'll miss the weather, but not the high cost of living!  :-)  Good luck with your planning...and feel free to ask questions.  We might not all be moving, but we''re all in the same wedding planning boat.

Thanks to all of you great women!  It is so nice to have some positive feedback when you are freaking out :)

If you can believe this, this morning I got a call from a recruiter asking if I would be interested in a job based in LONDON!  Now, this was in no way a firm offer or anything, but she is putting my name onto the short list.  We are just going to go forward with the move to Michigan, but now with the possiblity that we might just drop our stuff off in a storage facility and fly on to England.

Hmm... hope they would still give me time off in August for the wedding.  If not, I might be posting about our elopement in Las Vegas :)
