Quick Hotel help please! (sorry for all the posts lately)

For my scouting trip next wk, I need to pick a hotel. My goal is to tour the Suites the first day which I won't get a rental car for and get a rental car for the next day for the cake tastings. The Suites I will bet at Mandalay Bay and Aria. What hotels do you think are best location wise in between the two? I was originally thinking Excalibur but I just got an amail for a sale for Monte Carlo which is a nicer hotel I know. The price diff is $18 more total to stay at Monte.

So now I'm thinking Monte, thoughts? (Excalibur is $26 a night, Monte is $35)

Also, what is the cheapest way to get from the airport to the hotel?

THANK YOU!

Cab it from the airport.  Either monte carlo or excalibur would  be fine.  Excalibur probably close to both, but the bus pass is cheap you could just grab one of them and go anywhere up and down the strip.  IMO monte carlo is nicer...

I've taken one of those shuttles that are right outside of baggage claim and I think you can get a round trip ticket for around $15 or so.  They're not quite as convenient as a cab but it would definitely save you some money in the long run.

There's a tram from Monte Carlo to Aria, and one from Excalibur to MB, so you can't go wrong either hotel. The rooms are about the same at both places, but like someone here said that they've updated rooms at Excalibur.

Priceline has rentals as low as $13/day. There's a shuttle from the airport to the rental, and it's located about 5 mins past the Vegas sign, so you won't get lost.

Also, consider getting a player's card. You only need one from the MGM properties (MGM, excalibur, nyny, luxor, aria, mirage, TI, MB, and others) and the Total Rewards which covers (Flamingo, Caesars, harrahs, planet hollywood, paris, rio, ip, ballys), you don't have to be a big gambler, just play alittle slots, so you'll get better deals at these hotels, believe me they want your business and your loyalty.

All your transport options in Vegas
    Link:

Also if you take a taxi from the airport tell them to avoid the tunnel. Its a shorter route but most of the time the traffic makes the ride cost more.

If you stay at Monte Carlo you should go to The Pub. Actually you should eat there even if you dont stay. They have the best sweet potato fries.

jccswl has good input!! I personally would go for the cheap place. Don't forget about resort fees!

I love renting a car in Vegas. It's super cheap and you get free parking everywhere.

Well this is what I've found out.  To get a rental car, which I have on hold for all 3 days is $68 total including all fees. Before the fees and what not it's $12 a day, but you also have to return it with a full tank, so whatever that will be.  To get a car for just one day it's about $30 for the day plus gas.

I'm thinking this will be what I'll do, with the free parking everywhere that helps and I'll also be able to split up a few of the things I was going to do all in one day.

I'm still debating on a hotel though, since I'm getting the rental car I don't know that where the hotel is at matters as much, now I'm putting Flamingo into the mix cause with their no resort fees it basically the same as Monte Carlo, thoughts on this?

Stratosphere is prob. too far down the strip huh?

Thanks for all the tips everyone!

NO NO NO on the flamingo or strat tooo far outta range and pretty rank (trashy) monte carlo is better yes than excalibur but not closer (which you know). I wish i could do something for you on price deals at monte carlo since im the exec. marketing director bbsitter lol. but its too close to holidays so the deals online are the best you can get. shuttles an hotel limo services are nice but taxis are much quicker :)

Thanks Kari! I think I'm just going to book the Monte Carlo, with resort fees, it's $25 more than Excalibur, or maybe I should just save that $25, grr idk. I shouldn't be so indecisive over $25 but yet I am! Thanks for the want to do something on the price though:) Those damn resort fees are just irritating, esp. since I won't be using any of the stuff that they cover, nothing you can do though.

I was just in Vegas last weekend and I will say the airport shuttles were quick, easy, affordable.  I highly recommend that.  We found out later from our limo driver that was included in our chapel package that the cab driver we used in the morning to go get our marriage license to a round about way and definitely overcharged.
We ran off to Vegas and got married!
