Happy Friday! Poll time!

Ok, I'm bored.  And it's Friday.  And I think we have a lot of newbies & lurkers that haven't come out yet.  Unfortunately I'm really not that creative so I'm just taking an old poll of Rach's and reposting...

1. Why Vegas? I know we ask a lot...but, it's good for the new ladies to the board (especially those considering Vegas, to read).

2. If not Vegas, had you considered somewhere else?

3. Name one awesome non-wedding related thing going on in your life now (AW- away!)

4. If you had all the money in the world, how would that affect the outcome of your wedding?

And I'll start by adding my answers:

    1. Why Vegas? FI's family live there so it's really convenient.  We work/live in Aspen so it would be WAY too expensive to have a wedding out here, both for us and our guests (none of our family live in CO).  Also, who doesn't love an excuse to go to Vegas?
    2. If not Vegas, had you considered somewhere else?  We originally thought about a tropical destination wedding but it didn't work for our families.  We also considered Napa as I have family there, but that would be almost as expensive for our guests as traveling to Aspen.

    3. Name one awesome non-wedding related thing going on in your life now (AW- away!)  Not super exciting, but I get to volunteer at a booth for the Chris Klug Foundation at the Winter X-Games next weekend (promoting organ donation education and awareness).

    4. If you had all the money in the world, how would that affect the outcome of your wedding?  I'd mabye splurge on a more expensive photographer and would have the upgraded reception package at our venue.  And probably more flowers.

@direy25 - I've always wanted to come up for the X-games, that is so cool. I love Aspen though.

    1. Why Vegas? I know we ask a lot...but, it's good for the new ladies to the board (especially those considering Vegas, to read).  FI & I love Vegas. We started trying to plan a wedding in CO (my mother really wanted it here) but it was going to be soooo expensive.  Destination wedding that people could afford to come (was a BM in a destination wedding in Jamaica last year, fun but not financially feasible for our families) to was our next plan, so thus here we are planning a wedding in Vegas

    2. If not Vegas, had you considered somewhere else?  Aside from CO not really FI is from Texas, that wasn't going to work for me though.

    3. Name one awesome non-wedding related thing going on in your life now (AW- away!)  Nothing super awesome, really getting the hang of my new job, overall glad to have one though.

    4. If you had all the money in the world, how would that affect the outcome of your wedding?  I probably would have upgraded our wedding package and added a few more extra things (spa day, more flowers, etc) Would have paid for more things for the guests i.e. rooms, flights so more people could come

    1. Why Vegas? I know we ask a lot...but, it's good for the new ladies to the board (especially those considering Vegas, to read).
It sounded like a fun, different place to have a wedding (no one we know has gotten married there before, or anywhere destination-y).  It also seemed like someplace that the majority of our guests would enjoy for a getaway vacation!  (and not mind spending extra $ to travel to)

    2. If not Vegas, had you considered somewhere else?
Originally I was against a destination wedding...but FI really wanted one.  We looked at several places around us (Milwaukee, WI) to try to find somewhere that we loved so I could convince him to stay local.

Also,  I always dreamed of having my wedding reception at Lambeau Field, which we did look in to.  Really though, Vegas was the only place that we seriously researched.

    3. Name one awesome non-wedding related thing going on in your life now (AW- away!)
Nothing really!  Just got back from a weekend in Vegas last weekend - which was awesome (but I suppose it was semi-wedding related so that probably doesnt count).   Things are a little boring right now!

    4. If you had all the money in the world, how would that affect the outcome of your wedding?
I wouldn't stress out as much.  Decisions wouldn't be as difficult.  Really though, most of the basic details would probably be the same.

Cheaper, easier, more fun, not really sure why but we did not even hesitate choosing Vegas. We both kind of grew up there, we went at least twice a month, and now as adults we go as much as we can, we love it!
    2. If not Vegas, had you considered somewhere else?

We didn't consider anywhere else, but I highly doubt it would have been as fun out here in the sticks where I live..
    3. Name one awesome non-wedding related thing going on in your life now (AW- away!)

Um... non-wedding related?? What does that meeeaannnn????? Eh well we have our health, our happiness, and a little bit of money, that's probably all we can ask for!
    4. If you had all the money in the world, how would that affect the outcome of your wedding?

Honestly, we would probably do the same except it would not be as stressful! Probably hire a professional photographer, get the open bar package.... eh not too much different.

    1. Why Vegas? I know we ask a lot...but, it's good for the new ladies to the board (especially those considering Vegas, to read).
Vegas is the 1st trip Ben & I took together. So it's kinda a special city to us. Flights to Vegas are widely available and usually well priced. Hotels are always having great specials. Transportation is so much easier.
I'm originally from Chicago, but I had no desire to plan a wedding that's 2000 miles away. Plus, most of his family wouldn't be able to afford the trip.
SoCal is super expensive. Most of the places I looked at out here are way out of my budget or would be if I did anything more than the bare bones. Plus, guests would have to rent cars to get around, hotels are widely spaced out, worries about people driving drunk/getting lost/ etc.
    2. If not Vegas, had you considered somewhere else?
I looked into having it local. Still kinda am to amuse Ben's grandma. But I live down the street from Disney, it's an expensive tourist trap here.
    3. Name one awesome non-wedding related thing going on in your life now (AW- away!)
Well I don't know if it's awsome, but classes started back up this week. I'm still trying to petition to get into my business writing class (grrr). Managed to arrange my schedule so I only go to school on Tues & Thurs. Which will hopefully keep my stress level under control.
Two weeks from today, Ben & I are going home to visit. I hope Chicago gets a nice layer of snow while we're there.

    4. If you had all the money in the world, how would that affect the outcome of your wedding?
I would do it bigger and invite more people, upgrade a whole lot of things. But I would still want to do it in Vegas.

Vegas is our favorite place ever and we thought more guests would come to a fabulous wedding in Vegas than to a a standard wedding here locally in Phoenix. Who doesn't love an excuse to go to Vegas?
    2. If not Vegas, had you considered somewhere else?
We briefly mentioned locally in Phoenix, but quickly said no way- gotta have it in Vegas!
    3. Name one awesome non-wedding related thing going on in your life now (AW- away!)
Quitting my job (just put in my two weeks today!) and starting a FABULOUS fun new job in two weeks!

    4. If you had all the money in the world, how would that affect the outcome of your wedding?
Pay for all expenses for every one of our guests!  More photography and more gifts for our guests!  We would also give our guests some slot machine money to have fun with after the reception!

    1. Why Vegas? I know we ask a lot...but, it's good for the new ladies to the board (especially those considering Vegas, to read).
Because my FI and I moved to the other side of the country (in Canada) a few years ago. Many of our guests would have to travel anyways whether we got married here or back home.. plus many of our friends and family have never been and love the idea of going :)

    2. If not Vegas, had you considered somewhere else?
I always knew I wanted a destination wedding. I fell in love with Vegas when I was there just over a year ago.

    3. Name one awesome non-wedding related thing going on in your life now (AW- away!)
Just bought our first house last week!

    4. If you had all the money in the world, how would that affect the outcome of your wedding?
If I could I would pay for everyone to fly out there.. but the wedding itself would probably be about the same.

    1. Why Vegas? I know we ask a lot...but, it's good for the new ladies to the board (especially those considering Vegas, to read). It's fun, it's affordable, and it's the first place FI and I went together as a couple. We wanted something different, but didn't want it to be out of reach of our guests

    2. If not Vegas, had you considered somewhere else? Locally, of course. But it seemed like way too much hassle, and all the good vendors book up WAY too quickly for my liking.

    3. Name one awesome non-wedding related thing going on in your life now (AW- away!) I'm having my high school girlfriends over for a game night tonight! I haven't seen them in a couple of months.

    4. If you had all the money in the world, how would that affect the outcome of your wedding? We maybe would have gone for something like Hawaii, or the Virgin Islands, and flown all our guests there. Or possibly stuck with Vegas but get one of those giant $10K+ per night penthouses in Caesar's or the Palms, and give our guests a VIP weekend, all expenses paid. That would be so awesome!

    1. Why Vegas? I know we ask a lot...but, it's good for the new ladies to the board (especially those considering Vegas, to read). Like many others... Vegas was the first "couple" trip for me and FI.  He has been married once before, so he didn't want anything local or traditional and I have four siblings that have already been married, so it made sense to do Vegas.  We have lots of friends/family that don't EVER take a vacation without the kids... and this was a way for us to encourage them to do so:).

    2. If not Vegas, had you considered somewhere else?  We looked into lots of places... Cabo, Colorado, Tennessee, French Lick, IN... but when it came down to it... Vegas was us.

    3. Name one awesome non-wedding related thing going on in your life now (AW- away!)  I wouldn't say this is "awesome" more of a relief... but my step-daughter (soon to be) has been to the doctors for what could be a serious health issue and yesterday we were told she is "ok".  A big weight lifted off of our chests... for now.  Lots more tests/doctors down the road we think:(.

    4. If you had all the money in the world, how would that affect the outcome of your wedding?  I would probably not change much... maybe splurge on catering or entertainment.

Vegas is halfway between Australia and the UK, where our respective families live. It is also such a fun, exciting place and our money goes a lot further than it would in the UK.

    2. If not Vegas, had you considered somewhere else? Bali or Thailand!

    3. Name one awesome non-wedding related thing going on in your life now (AW- away!) Nothing in particular stands out, but life is good right now. We have almost paid off the wedding which is only two months away, I am excited about seeing my family again and having a long honeymoon. Work is going well and we have two more holidays to look forward to this year. And baby plans are imminent at last!

    4. If you had all the money in the world, how would that affect the outcome of your wedding? I would have gotten married in the Primrose Courtyard at the Wynn, paid for all oiur guests to come and have them all stay in the Encore!

    2. If not Vegas, had you considered somewhere else? Possibly my hometown

I agree with previous poster, what does non-wedding mean, lol. Actually I have 9 more weeks of my masters program and I am done!!
    4. If you had all the money in the world, how would that affect the outcome of your wedding? We would have paid for our guests to come, and been able to invite more people and have a huge reception.

    2. If not Vegas, had you considered somewhere else? We go to Cancun/Riviera Maya every year, so considered there for a bit.

    3. Name one awesome non-wedding related thing going on in your life now (AW- away!) Nothing much here.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Why Vegas? I know we ask a lot...but, it's good for the new ladies to the board (especially those considering Vegas, to read).  We originally started planning a wedding here in Miami, but the prices were way more than what we wanted to spend. FI is crazy about the movie "The Hangover" and one day he called while he was at work and said "we should get married in Vegas" and it just took off from there.

    2. If not Vegas, had you considered somewhere else? In our hometown.

We live here - I'm actually one of those rare breeds:  a true native, born and raised

    2. If not Vegas, had you considered somewhere else?
Nowhere else, this is home and all of our friends are here and a lot of family

A craft/hobby business I've had for many years that really has only paid for me to keep having the hobby is finally starting to become a reality - still won't pay the bills, but it's exciting anyway

    4. If you had all the money in the world, how would that affect the outcome of your wedding?
I wouldn't change much of what we're doing, but if I had all the money in the world, I wouldn't worry about the guest list and invite everyone we know and I would pay for all of the family who isn't able to come for the wedding

    1. Why Vegas? It was our first vacation together, and remains our favorite vacation spot.  That, and we have family sprinkled all over the country, so we wanted to get them in for a wedding for a whole weekend, not just a few hours!
    2. If not Vegas, had you considered somewhere else?We live in San Francisco, but it's hella expensive to get married here.  Vegas it is!
    3. Name one awesome non-wedding related thing going on in your life now (AW- away!) I just finished my first half marathon in Disney World a couple of weeks ago, and FI and my parents both came to cheer me on. :)
    4. If you had all the money in the world, how would that affect the outcome of your wedding? I'd invite more people (we're up to about 75 already, which is stressing me out, and that's pretty much the bare minimum that we can cut to), I'd pay for my BMs' travel and dresses, and I'd have my reception in one of the ballrooms at the Wynn or the Bellagio.

We knew we wanted a destination wedding. FI and I arent really much for being in the spotlight. We also wanted something small, intimate, and FUN! We fell in love with Vegas last summer when I lived there for an internship and we knew it would be a great location that was fun, affordable, and less hassle.
    2. If not Vegas, had you considered somewhere else?
We originally looked into having it local but I can get my whole wedding and reception for the price of a venue rental in Kansas City. I can't not imagine spending that much money on a wedding.

I started my last semester of grad school in Jan and I graduate in May!!!

    4. If you had all the money in the world, how would that affect the outcome of your wedding?
We'd be getting married at the Terazza de Signoni at the Bellagio and I probably would not have DIY'ed as much.
