Carlos & Charlies? Diablo Cantina? Reggae?

Anyone been there since it opened at Flamingo?  Is it fun and worth going to, or is it just a tourist trap with expensive drinks?

Wife and I are, wait, I'll let you guess..... yes, headed to Vegas tomorrow lol, my 6th trip this year yikes.  We're staying downtown but have friends who will be in the Flamingo neighborhood so we're looking for things to do up that way now that our favorite O'Sheas is no more.

And any particular night or time of day Diablos is good to go to?  I haven't been yet but we've been wanting to check that out too.

I'm still looking for a bar that plays reggae and/or has a reggae band in Vegas; maybe a local can give me a pointer...

  • I think the food at Carlos and Charlies is better than Diablo's. C and C is a tourist trap kinda-but kind of a fun atmosphere. Similar to Margaritaville. I like to sit outside, so I am biased to Margaritaville.

  • Can't say anything about Carlos and Charlies but...

Diablos is both mine and my fiance's FAVORITE place to go eat in Vegas :) In fact we are almost thinking about staying at the Monte Carlo for our wedding for that very reason. If you end up going there, their nachos are AMAZING!! Plus every hour they spin this wheel and that's the drink special for the rest of the hour, kinda cool. Plus they have people handing out tickets for $2.00 margaritas outside of the restaurant (or at least that's what they used to do), so make sure you check that out before you go inside. We went mid-day like 1ish most of the time but it seems like the later it gets the more people/action there is.

Reggae is my favorite!!! Can't wait to hear if anyone has anything to say about this!!
  • I absolutely love Diablos.  The last time I went was for dinner around 7ish and we stayed up until around midnight.  Things god fun and lively. Havent been to Carlos and Charlies.

    Have a great time!

I found the link above with some reggae club suggestions but i've never been to any of them. One is downtown, one at The Rio.

Only other thing I know of going on this weekend is The World's Largest Bachelorette Party sponsored  by Tao and Lavo.  But I don't think you'd be too interested in that... lol.

  • Never been there but let us know how it is if you go. My FI and I will be staying at the flamingo Monday thru Friday next week.

Yep, it's pretty difficult not to at this point, they treat me a lot better from a comps standpoint, so I end up looking at it as I'm going to gamble the same amount regardless of where I stay, if I lose, I'm going to lose a lot of money, why not get the most out of what I lose?  I do miss the strip though, we're going to rent a car this time and spend some of the days up on the strip; Hertz has a rental location at the Plaza hotel two blocks from GN so it will be easy to go everywhere we want.
