Planning from Afar, New to the Board!

Hi All, 

I am a very nervous, bride to be.  I am originally from Wilmington, NC and I have recently moved with the Fi to Chicago.  The weather here currently is TERRIBLE!  I hope I can learn some interesting things because I am planning my WIlmington NC wedding from Chicago.  My presumptive date is October 10, 2010.  I'm so excited about the date and I have several appointments set up in the area right around Christmastime.  I'm really trying to finalize some things so I can get the ball rolling.  Is anyone familiar with any venues in the Wilmington area?  

I'm so excited to have the group as a support system in this planning period!

    Welcome!

    I'm having my wedding in Wilmington!  Well, actually Topsail but that's close.

    One place we probably would have booked if we didn't go with Topsail is the River Room down on the boardwalk.  Really cool spot and the owner was a super nice and helpful guy.  http://www.theriverroomevents.com/

    St Thomas Preservation is a popular place in Wilmington, also.

    i am getting married on the beach at Oak Island which is about 45 minutes south of Wilmington. I probably wont be any help with venues but I am using a few other vendors out of Wilmington area.

    Our officiant Rev. Susan Darnell is also out of Wilmington. She is so nice and tons of help as well. I actually found her before my venue and because of her found my venue. Her website is linked through my vendor section in my bio

    I am DIY flowers but will be getting them from Sams in Wilmington. However, if you don't want to do DIY flowers then I would suggest Roxanne at Island Florals. www.islandflorals.net

    My catering company is wonderful and they are also going above and beyond and handling my rentals as well. Coastal Catering and Events. They are just right outside Wilmington but will travel to Wilmington and surrounding areas with no extra charge. They are working with L & L Tent for my rentals and they are out of Wilmington as well.

    Welcome and good luck with planning!  I just moved to the Calabash/Sunset Beach area, so I'm south of Wilmington.  Chicago must be absolutely freezing!! But atleast you get snow, haha.  Welcome to the board!

    Congrats and welcome!  Wilmington is such an amazing town, all the weddings brides have posted from there are always beautiful!

    I don't know if you've look into it but you may want to check out wedding insurance since you're getting married within the hurrican season.

    Welcome and Congrats.  I am also a Topsail Island bride.  So if you decided to get married on the beach just north of Wilmington, I would be happy to recommend some places to you!
