How much were your alterations?

Ok, I got my dress fitted last night!  HORRAY it fits!  I ordered it 2 sizes too small!  I still want to lose the water weight in the next 3 weeks though.  My total was $205.00.  is this normal?  I have a lace overlay hem, a french bussel and the straps taken up.  I swear I almost had an anxiety attack at the cost!!!

I was told by someone at a dress place that depending on the bustle it could be as much as $500, so to me that sounds normal. But other ladies?

That could be a fairly reasonable price, depending on the complexity of your french bustle (number of points & snaps) & how much work needs to go into your hem (lace, horsehair braid, number of layers of fabric, appliques, etc. can cost additional).

Oh ok, I thought it was pretty good, but geez!  Yeah, I have 3 layers, one being lace and a huge horsehair thing, it's the biggest she has seen.  she is going to put a smaller one in?  And I should note she will have it ready for me next Thursday!!

My dress had like a bajillion layers, Olga charged me extra for the bustle points, I also had bra cups sewn in, my total was around $200

My alterations were capped at $396 but we probably did about $600 - $700 worth of work to the dress.  I'm no kidding either - I had 5 fittings.

olga estimated about $250 on mine and i was supposed to have four fittings but we have decided to work something else out so that i dont have to make so many trips to her.

mine includes some custom work, bustle and i have several layers that will have to be taken up bc i am too short and not wearing any shoes

I paid $325 which included all alterations including bustle and bra sewn in, plus two pressings... so I say thats a good deal for you!

mweissman , a ton of us used Olga for alterations. She's fabulous, adorable, & very reasonable, & you can find her contact info in the NC Bio (link in my siggy).
