Re: honeymoon poll

  • My FI and I are waitin a week to go on our HM. I don't see that waiting will be that big of a deal. If you can get a better trip out of it, go for it!!

  • Fi and I are waiting until June/July to go on ours. We have to take a week off for the wedding and couldn't afford to take off another week of work to go on the honeymoon right after.

  • I don't think it's a big deal to wait. I think people more and more nowadays wait a bit to go. In all honesty, I'd love to go right after the wedding. We wanted to go during my spring break. However, since the Castle is such a highly sought after venue, there were only a few dates to pick from for the entire spring. Hence, our reason for getting married on a Friday and a week before my spring break (honeymoon). It doesn't really bother me that I'll go back and teach for a week. It gives us time to relax from all the chaoticness (totally not a word) that will come from the wedding weekend. :)

I say wait until it's cheaper and you can stay for a longer period of time. :)

  • Wait. I think a lot of the girls here are waiting.

We are waiting til September so we can pay cash for our trip go for two weeks to Ireland. Less crowded, better weather, and cheaper to boot!

  • I guess I'm the only one here... but we are leaving on our HM on the Sunday after the wedding.  I know several of you are waiting but I think it will be so much more romantic to have that time right after the wedding for just us and not have to worry about anything! .... But that is just me and my opinion.  I guess you two have to decide if going right after the wedding means more to you than saving money and being able to stay longer.

Nope...I am with you amber! We are also leaving on Sunday morning after our Saturday wedding for the honeymoon. We have been on so many trips and vacations together...I would be scared that if we waited it wouldn't feel like a "honeymoon" and just another vacation. I think there is something about taking off that morning as newlyweds and really extending that moment of the whole ambience of the wedding and festivities. With that said...I know alot of you guys are waiting and I am sure you will be able to make it as romantic and special as if it was the day after you got married...but my opinion is the closer to the wedding day the better!

  • We're waiting several months!  I'm already having to take two weeks off of school for the convention in Vegas and the wedding so there's no way we could take another week off unless I just flat out wanted to fail my classes.  And then in the summer we'll be at camp.  So, it'll probably be sometime in the fall.

I believe in a lot of things. I believe in fresh tennis balls, the healing power of bunnies, and that the novels of Susan Sontag are something I'll never read. In fact, I don't even know who Susan Sontag is. What is she... like... a painter? I believe in Crystal Lite because I believe in ME. I believe in the movies of Val Kilmer, though these days it ain't so easy. I believe in Darren Sproles, the word "dabble", the first season of "Silk Stockings", and big, warm, moist, gooey chocolate chip cookies that melt in your mouth and all over your face.

  • We're really close to booking a HM that leaves Apr 16th (and we're getting married Mar 31st too) so I'm pretty darn close to what you're looking for!! FI really wanted to leave as close as possible to our wedding, but I loved the idea of spreading it out and making it feel like a month long marriage celebration :)  Why put all this time into planning these events just to have it all over in a matter of a week-ish??? Luckily I've won over my FI and we're going back to work for around two weeks... should be just enough time to get settled, unpack gifts, write and send out thank you notes and pack for the honeymoon!!

When you put it this way, it makes it sound even more appealing :)  We have decided to leave the 15th for sure.  This will be the first time FI and I have ever went on a vacation together so in itself it will make it super special :)
  • We're leaving Sunday after our Friday wedding.  Our wedding is on Friday night, and Saturday we will do a brunch for family, so Sunday made the most sense.

  • I'm leaving the Monday following my Saturday wedding. I would have left Sunday, but we would be up so late that night and then to have to not get enough sleep and travel the whole next day..well we'd be exhausted and cranky.

However it seems like a win-win to wait and get more time for less money!

After my first wedding we left for our honeymoon the next morning and it was a huuuuuge regret! We were so exhausted (and he was very hung over) and all I wanted to do is sleep in! But we had to leave the wedding hotel at 8am so we had to wake up at 7. I was definitely cranky! Haha! So if you're planning a night reception it's a very smart idea to wait like this! You'll be very happy when you wake up Sunday morning and don't have to go anywhere!

  • We are leaving the Sunday after our Saturday wedding, but that's becuase we are teachers and will be on Spring break. You may want to consider that it will be Spring Break time at Disney. If you wait until April,  Spring Break season should be over. Be sure and get Bride & Groom mouse ears. My brother & sister-in-law did and they let them skip the line on rides!
