Random question: glasses?

Ok, this is very random, but... if you or your FI/DH regularly wear glasses will you or did you (or he) wear them for the wedding?

My FI wears glasses and recently asked me if he should wear them for the wedding.  I'm leaning toward yes because that's how I'm used to seeing him, but does anyone else have thoughts on this?  Should he be worried about glare for the pictures?

hmm - this is a tough one that I've never really thought about! My first instinct is to say yes - he should wear them, however, I don't know all that much about glare in photos etc. I just think that if he always wears glasses, it would be odd to see him without them... sorry - I'm not much of a help!!

does he have contacts to wear or would his vision be impaired for the day?

Both DH and I wear glasses all of the time, and wore them for the wedding day. I can't wear contacts (have issues with touching my eye), and am pretty much blind without them, so there really was no choice. When I got new glasses (April of 2008), I did make sure to get the no-glare stuff (not sure what they call it) and to not get transition lenses again. I think your FI should definitely wear his glasses if that's how people are used to seeing him. We had no glare from our glasses in our wedding pics- your photog should have no problem working with them. I think it's sad that more brides and grooms don't wear them.

Glare on the glasses can be avoided by the photog and is easily retouched if it happens.

You might want to do a few shots of him with them and without them, just for variety.

A tip is to have him take the glasses and lift them up slightly on the ears so that they are slanted/tilted down ever so slightly.

My DH wears glasses about half the time, but wore contacts that day.

    HTH!

Oh, haha, I should have specified about the contacts :)  FI has contacts and can wear them with no problems, although he usually only does so if we're at the beach or skiing or playing sports or something.

K, I was hoping you would chime in with a photographer's perspective :)  That's good to know.

Truthfully, I loooooove glasses on guys (and he likes his too!) so I bet he'll just end up wearing them.  Thanks for the feedback!

only one more thing to pipe up - does your photog charge for this retouch?  Something to think about if there is glare issues.

A little late but my BFF's husband is kind of a hipster and always wears black plastic framed glasses. He wore them for the wedding and looked adorable. I think it would've been weird for him not to wear them. I say your FI should go for it!

I think it's fine if the groom wears them, however I don't think the bride should wear them.

Seriously?! Why do you think this? I wore glasses, so I guess that makes my wedding invalid. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-tongue-out.gif" border="0" alt="Tongue out" title="Tongue out" /> I've worn glasses since 1st grade- they are a part of my face and personality. No one questioned me about wearing them. It would have been VERY odd for me not to.

    Haha Kim, INVALID WEDDING!

Bri, I don't think our photographer charges for retouching for glare and things.  Really good point!
