Budget and money

Money puts a damper on my excitement for my own wedding I noticed a lot of brides have things booked or have done something for their wedding and it kinda makes me feel like "Ehh". I am hoping to put the deposit down on my ceremony venue this week since I get paid, but it feels discouraging when all I can do is look and not get things in order when I am barely spending any money on our wedding.

The only thing that keeps me thinking positive about this whole experience is knowing I will be marrying the love of my life

let that be ur motivation! put the deposit down when u can! the only bad thing is you might not get the venue or vendor u want but just know its just a part of the roller coaster of planning! Best of luck to you and just come on here if u need some positive reinforcement!

Needing time to save is why some people are having longer engagements. You don't want to miss the opportunity to get a vendor you really wanted because you have to wait for your next paycheck.

We only wanted an 8-9 month engagement but settled for 13 months and off season so we could get the best deal and have time to save.

Even knowing we have the money doesn't make it any easier to spend it. And FI says he doesn't care anything about this whole production. He just cares that I am next to him at the altar.

Aww, no worries.  We're watching our budget too but you know, I read a lot of articles where they had a very simple early ceremony in somewhere like a park, then had a small brunch for their close friends and family and maybe even a cake and then the couple later jetted off to their honeymoon where they stayed for a weeks vacation!  That sounds like money well spent to me too.  Whatever you decide to do, whether a big event or smaller/formal occasion as long as you have the people there that are closest to you and your hubby- to-be you guys will have a great time.  Try not and let $ get in the way of your happiness.

yea we calculated how much we expect to save each month as a couple and sort of picked our date like that.  Spring, fall and winter weddings are cheaper and also friday and sundy wedding are cheaper.  Plus all the venors and your venue will give you a payment schedule so you have time to save up in between payments. DIY whatever you can to save some money too. goodluck!!!

That's the most important thing, that you're marrying the love of your life!  Don't worry about the details too much.  Some of my favorite weddings were the small, intimiate ones that didn't break the bank!

Yes I have a lot of things done and paid for already but we've also been engaged for almost a year.  I knew I wanted a big wedding so we waited an extra year.  Just save up whatever you can and be creative!

I was this way for a lonngggg time!! The only reason I have everything done is because I'm going on almost 1.5 yrs of being engaged and we finally got everything settled with budget.... So don't feel bad I went thru it too
