decided to post an introduction of myself here on the burgh knot board

Greeting! I just wanted to take a second to say hello to those out there on these message boards. My name is Elisha I'm not only new to this site but I'm kind of new to the whole concept of the message board for ideas and tips idea. I haven't spent a little time today reading some of the posts and I realize that without introducing myself I may not get much help on here.So Like I said My name is Elisha and my fiance is Phil. We've been together for almost 5 years now. We've been living here in Pittsburgh (city of Champs!!) for over three years now. but who's counting :) honestly we're not really the anniversary celebrating type of couple so it surprised me when after he proposed he insisted that we put some time and effort behind this to make it a little more traditional. We got engaged in May of this year and we have our ceremony and reception site taken care of and a theme and color palette choosen.I've said it several times on this site while filling out numerous things about myself but I am not a planning type of person so this is all a little overwhelming. Some of the things that I can see myself already having troubles with are my family.. they are driving me nuts! And I'm sure I'll find myself on here reading and looking for thoughts and tips througgout the next 14 months. Our wedding date in 10/2/10Thanks for checking out my ramble of an introduction!

Welcome and congrats!  We're big on details here, so share away, even if it seems like rambling.  And this is a great place to vent, especially when you're family is driving you nuts. I think it's safe to say we've all been there.Happy planning!

WOW I can't believe how quickly so many of you responded! Thanks for all the congrats. Well the 10/2/10 date is pretty exciting. We're going to do the ceremony and reception at the River's club downtown. we both really liked it and it has a lot of personality. For decor I'm really diggin on Art deco/vintage. Black and white are the colors. and my ladies will be wearing black dresses. (everyone looks good and feels comfortable in black right?) As for my dress I am totally not convinced that I will find a dress that everyone talks about. you know the one that make syou feel that "feeling" but Maggie Sottero has some beautiful gowns and there is one Allure gown that I like alot. As far as my family driving my nuts. I don't know that there is a family out there like mine so get ready for some insane ranting about that. my mom is coming to visit next month and due to a knee surgery I have been on crutches for three weeks.. and i will be for several more weeks. Ok well thats enough rambling this post but there will be more :) thanks all!

We're going to do the ceremony and reception at the River's club downtown. we both really liked it and it has a lot of personality. One of my former coworkers got married there!  She had a really good experience with them! For decor I'm really diggin on Art deco/vintage. Black and white are the colors. and my ladies will be wearing black dresses. (everyone looks good and feels comfortable in black right?) I'm biased, but great choice!  :)  We had a black and white wedding with pink accents.

I do think this is going to turn out to be a good place for some good advice.. Good to hear that people have had good times at the River's Club. Thanks for the Vintage sites. CUTE things on there and I might have to purchase a few things on there loong before my rehearsal dinner and wedding come along :) Oh and Black and white was the easiest choice after saying yes to getting married :)
