New Depp and Burton Movie!

I didn't know Tim Burton and Johnny Depp teamed up again. They're doing Alice in Wonderland. I bet it's going to be great. I can't wait to see it.

Just saw that this morning. Depp + Burton= awesome! It will probably be a really creepy/funny/sarcastic version of Alice in Wonderland too. :)

I just read about that as well. I'm sure it will be excellent. And Helena Bonham Carter will be in it as well - she's an amazing actress to watch - she plays a creepy/evil/strange character so well!

My guess is it will be based off the original Alice in Wonderland, not the happy Disney version. The original is actually very dark and creepy.

Erica - that's what I was thinking too.

I've never read the original Alice, but my brother really likes it. He's told me a bit about it, but I don't remember the details.

Ohh, I'm so excited for this movie!!! I love all Tim Burton/Johnny Depp/Disney movies. From what I read about it, there's 2 Allison in Wonderland Books, and the cartoon version of Alice in Wonderland was based off of I think the second one and this movie is based off the first one, or vice versa.I will be getting a babysitter for my one month old baby and I will be there opening night!

This is old news for me, but there's some teaser pics that came about about a month ago. My aunt said the trailer got leaked yesterday and it looks creepy! JD has bright orange hair and green eyes in it as the Mad Hatter. I still haven't watched Sweeney Todd. Better put that on my Netflix list!

Jamie, I think Sweeney Todd may have been one of the weirdest movies I ever saw. It's one of those movies that you just sit and stare at the tv after it's over trying to process it. It's so dark and creepy, and the fact that they sing throughout the entire thing just makes it even weirder.

I loved Sweeney Todd! JD is not a singer though.... here's the AIW trailer (also in pp)http://filmdrunk.uproxx.com/2009/07/trailer-for-burtons-alice-in-wonderland

I'm not big on movies where they sing constantly (the first time I saw Evita I was disappointed), but I'm going to give ST a try. Has anyone watched "Big Fish" that wasn't too bad/or dark for a Tim Burton movie although no JD. I really loved the version of Sleepy Hollow those two did.The whole Alice in Wonderland story scares me in general LOL, there was some terrifying mini-series on in the 80s that I remember watching as a toddler, Ringo Starr was a turtle, Sammy Davis Jr. was a catipillar and it was just frightening!

Big Fish is one of my favorite movies!! Might be my favorite movie actually. It was not creepy at all for a Tim B film. He's amazing IMO, everything is always so visually fascinating.

I'm very excited for this movie. I've read Alice in Wonderland and Alice through the Looking Glass (the two Alice books). Disney really, really prettied up the books for their cartoon. Alice through the Looking Glass is pretty darn scary (actually, they both are). It's the one with the Jaberwockey and the living chess people that are killed when their pieces are taken - I think it's where JK Rowling got that specific idea. Burton was supposed to have brought some of those characters into this movie. HBC is playing the Red Queen (from 2nd book - not Disney Movie). Here's a site with some pics http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/06/22/johnny-depp-as-mad-hatter_n_218747.html

I've never read any of the books, though now I'm pretty interested in reading them. I doubt this movie will be that scary though, being that it's still a Disney movie. I'm thinking it's going to be along the lines of Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride. Does anybody know what it's going to be rated?

I've still never watched Nightmare before Christmas...it's been what...15 years?! LOL. I like HBC too. No clue on the ratings though. Thanks for the trailer link!
