what directions to give to ceremony?

Our ceremony/recept is off of Camp Horne Rd(279). One set of directions is for the guests coming from the east thru squirrel hill tunnels. The other guests are scattered throughout Pitts. What should the other set of directions be coming from? FI thought from airport but no one coming that way. Can they just mapquest from there house or is that tacky??  A few from Cranberry.South Park,and 28.

Thank you for posting a directions question!  I've been meaning to ask for weeks now and keep forgetting.  I was wondering since so many people have GPS' or use mapquest are direction cards becoming pointless?

Hi there!   My parents  literally live .6 miles off the Camp Horne Road exit.  In my experience EVERYONE in Cranberry knows to hope on 279 S to get to that exit.  I might write up some directions from the south-if you have no one coming from the airport, then you don't have to worry about it.  If most guests are from Pittsburgh I would just give the exit name and number (since everyone woudl be familiar with 279) and then tell then which direction to when they get off of it.  You can't miss the venue! Oh yeah, I think you probobly should still include directions because there's always going to be a few who are either technological rejects and can't figure it out....or else are older and just don't get the technology. HTH

Since you're off of the interstate, I would do one from North, East, South, West. Basically, I'd say :Points East: Take your most convenient route to I279...off exit....Points South: Follow I79 to 279...or something like that...Points North...same thing...West...I think you're getting the idea! :)You can't personalize the directions for each individual group. I would determine the most logical common point in the route that your guests will all be taking. They can figure it out for themselves from there.  For example, mye wedding is at the Syria Shrine just off of 28. So, I have directions from PIttsburgh / points south: 279 to 28 take exit...then Kittanning / Points North: Route 28 south to exit...after that is all the detail to get to the actual place. We just did directions from the 2 hotels and from the church to the reception.  I figured everyone else would mapquest or use a GPS.  I usually don't bring the directions card with me to the wedding anyway!I did get a wedding invitation that just had all of the addresses listed on it for the church, hall, etc and said for the most convenient route, please use mapquest.com.

I was a bad bride.  I didn't include any type of direction.  I figured those that were in town could find the church themselves and everyone knew where Station Square was.  The only people that didn't know where anything was were from OOT, and we had provided transportation for them.

I was only concerned with DH's side.  I wrote directions "Indy to Hotel" then "Hotel to church".  My family either knew where our church was, or they had to be smart enough to figure it out on their own.

Becky, I did directions from the North, East, and South/West (I combined them, since for both you go to 79N. I used the ones from the Mayernik's web site, but someone told us that the # of stoplights was wrong...

Our ceremony was directly off of 79, so we did directions from the hotels, the north, and the south because 79 only runs North/South

I did "From the East", "From the West", "From Downtown Pittsburgh". That's where our guests are coming from. I also included the street address for both the ceremony and reception so that people can plug it into their GPS.

Hello all, longtime lurker but thought I'd actually throw my two cents in on this one... I'm from Sewickley and speaking from experience if you have people coming from 79 South, make sure they know to get off at the Sewickley exit and take route 65. You cannot get to 279 from 79 south...I've known MANY people to make this mistake when giving directions and people have ended up in Cranberry lol If your guests are scattered, do north, south, east, west. Personally though, I always mapquest for myself no matter what...
