Planning a Maine Honeymoon!

Well, maybe I should call it a mini-moon.  Because of work schedules and available vacation time, we do not have enough time to jet off anywhere for a "typical" honeymoon.  We are taking the week before the wedding off, plus the week after and while we will have to forgo the tropical island, I think having the extra time pre-wedding will be worth it.  We are spending a week in the Skiesta, but many of our friends are staying the full week with us.  It will be fun - we'll golf, go out to dinner, drink, relax - but we still wanted some time for just the two of us.  So we've decided we are going to stay in Maine for an extra few days and plan a little mini-moon to Portland and Kennebunkport.  We are going to have dinner at the White Barn Inn and spend a night there, and then head to Portland for a couple nights, which is one of our favorite cities.  The hote prices are high this time of year (Sept) but hey, I guess we only get married once, right?  Anyway, we are really excited to spend our last few days exploring these towns.  If anyone has any recommendations for sights to see, things to do, or places to eat we welcome them!

right now ruelala.com has a couple great stay packages for the kennebunkport area.  The places are beautiful.  The offers are only up for another 18 hours.  A couple of them are over $1000.00 but there are also a couple that are around $300 for two nights.  The places a really really nice.  If you dont subscribe to ruelala and are interested than I can invite you if you want to give me your email address.

We love the Portland Regency and have stayed there several times.  The rooms are fantastic and feel more like an inn.  The food in the restaurant has always been perfect, plus it's right in the Old Port, so you just walk out the door and walk to shops, clubs, restaurants, coffee shops, etc.  Check out their website and take a look at their packages, they usually come with some meals.  Be sure you walk up to the Eastland Park Hotel at night for drinks.  They have a fantastic glass bar at the top that looks over the city and water.  Enjoy!
